Stranger at the Airport

Chapter 1

"Flight 2745 will be departing in one hour. We will begin boarding with Group 1. Thank you." The flight attendant turned off the microphone and went back to typing behind the counter. I looked down at my ticket once again and saw I was part of Group 5. Groaning I dropped my head back onto the seat realizing I would be one of the last ones boarding the flight.  My  phone vibrated and I looked down to see my mom texted me. With a small eye roll I text her back reminding her that my departure time was at 12:30 and that I would be landing in Colorado at 2:45. After sending my message I felt a presence sitting beside me and a tap on my right shoulder.

"Excuse me miss," the low voice whispered.

"Umm, yes what can I do for you?" I asked politely with a smile. 

With a shaky voice the black, shaggy haired young man said, "Would please take this package with you onto the flight? I would but a, umm, family emergency came up. It's extremely important that this gets to my boss in Colorado."

I gave him a skeptical look. I sat quietly thinking if I should do this or not. My brain was giving me a long list of reason why I shouldn't do this for some stranger I just met, but I was always to nice for my own good. 

"Can I ask what is in the package?"

The blue eyes I was watching carefully kept darting left and right. This stranger nervously licked his lips and took a shaky breath in. 

"It's not a bomb," he said with a fake laugh. 

I continued to watch him carefully while sharing a polite laugh of my own to try and ease the tension. 

"Unfortunately, I cannot share with you what is in this package. I just need it to arrive in tacked. When you arrive my boss will pay you a large sum of money."

Going against my better judgement I nodded my head and reached out to take the package. The stranger sighed in relief and shoved it into my chest and ran off. Before I had a chance to call after him the flight attendant asked Group 1 to begin boarding.
