My men have been looking for Harper for a couple weeks now. I have put my best people on the case and we still can't find her! I am starting to wonder if she gave me a false name, I mean how hard is it to find a someone? I was slowly becoming more and more irritated, I just wanted to find her and figure out who she is. A knock on my door brought me from my thoughts.
"Come in!"
I was beginning to snap more when my people would disturb me. They weren't giving me the answers I wanted so I didn't want to speak to them until they did.
"Sir. I think we have finally located her. I just need you to look and be sure this is the correct person."
I quickly sat upright in my chair and snatched the file he was holding out to me. One glance at the picture and I knew we found Harper. Seeing how small the file was I finally understood why it took so long to find her. She had no criminal record not evening a speeding ticket. I was kind of impressed, most young people have a DUI or something in their records by now.
As I skimmed through I almost had a heart attack, she is only seventeen years old! I am twenty-four and I was interested in a seventeen year old girl! This cannot be happening. I was a creepy pedophile even looking at her! Then I noticed her birthday beside her age, November 16,1998. I sighed with relief, she would be eighteen in a few short months.
Jumping up from my chair I quickly left my office while calling Bates. By the time he answered I was in my car speeding towards our "private office".
"Bates, I need you to call a meeting right now. I want only the men we trust the most to be there, understand?"
"Yes sir."
Bates was a man of few words but he always got the job done. I was definitely pushing the speed limit but I had to get from Denver to Pueblo, that was an hour and forty minute drive. I needed to get there as quickly as possible so I wasn't planning on slowing down.
I finally reached my destination in record time. It was an old apartment building that I bought a few years back and renovated. I turned it into our meeting place for gang related business. Storming through the doors I jumped into the elevator and pressed the second floor button. Tapping my foot I impatiently waited for the elevator to stop. I sprinted from their to the conference room and rushed in throwing her file onto the table.
"Men we all know about our rodent problem," I sneered. Each man nodded while keeping silent.
"Well, I believe he has a new target. He gave a parcel to this young woman before she boarded a plane coming home. Do you gentleman know where he was when he gave her this package?"
I was asking because I knew they didn't, I don't believe they understood how serious this was, so I was going to make it perfectly clear. I saw each man hesitate to answer. They didn't want to admit they didn't know, but they knew the consequences of lying as well.
"San Antonio! How could none of you be aware of his location? Now he has his sights on an innocent young woman who has no clue what's going on! She doesn't realize that this package has put her life in serious danger! Now, I better have a location for him in the next week, or your employment with me will be," I hesitated smirking, "terminated. Dismissed!"
They all gulped and ran out of the room to begin their search. I turned to face Bates and saw he had the same cold expression he always wears.
"Bates. I am headed to Nebraska to speak with Harper and her family. I want you to make sure those idiots do not let our rat slip away again. If they do, well, you know what to do."
