They soon arrived at the hospital and luckily there were only a few minutes left of visiting hours, so they had no trouble getting inside the room.
Jungkook, who still had a firm hold on Sunhee's hand, dragged her over to the bed. If Sunhee wasn't a spiritual being she would definitely hyperventilate right now. She refused to look at her real body lying on the bed, with wires protruding from her body.
"Look!" Jungkook urged her and tried to pull her closer to the bed. "You have to look!"
"I can't!" She squeezed her eyes shut and attempted to free herself from his grasp. "It's impossible!"
Jungkook grabbed her by the shoulders and made her face him. "Sunhee, look at me." When she obeyed he continued, "I know it's difficult but you have to trust me. You still trust me, right?"
"Of course."
"Then, listen to what I have to say." He spun her around and moved with her back to the bed's side. "It's probably scary for you, having to look at yourself like this. But I know how you could get back in your body."
"How?"
"In all the movies when this happened to the character they would always touch their body, and they would be pulled back inside. Maybe that could work for you too," Jungkook explained and slid his fingers down her arm until they reached her hand. He tenderly lifted it. "Why not try it?"
Sunhee hesitated for a while and decided that it was worth a try. So she allowed him to place her hand on top of her body's hand, only for nothing to happen. They tried multiple times and got nowhere.
"Why isn't it working?!" Jungkook frustratingly let go off her arm and stepped away, running a hand through his hair. "It works all the time in movies."
"This isn't a movie, Kookie. This is real life," she pointed out.
"Obviously I know that!" he shouted. "You're probably not trying hard enough."
"I am!" she cried, getting angry herself. "Do you think I want to be like this forever? I want to wake up, just as much as you want me to. Did you really think it would be that easy?"
"What do you suggest we do then? Just let you pass on? Or give up altogether?" Jungkook's face was now red with anger.
"Why are you getting angry about this? I'm the one who is lying there in the hospital bed. I'm the one who is stuck on the other side and with no idea how to return. And you're the one who is standing there alive and well."
"Yes, you might lose me. But you can continue with your life. You'll grow, fall in love again and start a family. I might never have that. I'm the one who should be the most upset here." Tears were now pouring down her face. "This isn't the Jungkook I know. He wouldn't be this..."
She couldn't finish her sentence because everything around her started to flicker and fade.
"Sunhee, what's going on?" Jungkook took a tentative step forward and reached his hand out towards her. Guilt weighed heavier on him and he struggled to stay upright. "You can't go! It's not your time yet."
"Don't leave me."
She looked at him sadly before disappearing completely.
He sank into the chair beside her bed and held his head in his hands. No matter how much he tried he couldn't stop the tears from flowing.
He was so stupid. So, so stupid.
It wasn't her fault; none of it was. How could he treat her like that?
Astral her or the real her, it didn't matter; she was still Sunhee. His Sunhee.
He wanted her back but not like this. He had to calm down and pull himself together, for her sake. To him she was everything and more. She deserved the world and once she wakes up, he'll let her know just how much she means to him.
Sunhee, please come back.
