Poppy tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "I've honestly considered leaving a lot in the past," Ronny watched as she inhaled a deep breath and faced her head towards the sky, letting the sun warm her pale cheeks. "But I can't leave just yet."
"Why is that?" asked Ronny, laying himself down beside her and closing his eyes. All he could see was red behind his eyelids, the sun so bright today despite how cloudy it was getting and he knew it would begin raining soon.
Poppy was quiet for a few moments, he pried one eye open to look at her. Her eyes were now cast downwards, her chipped blue fingers picking at her oversized sweater, a small hole by the thumb which she constantly fiddles with. Ronny watched in utter amazement as her lips pursed and her eyelids fluttered against her soft cheeks, "I just feel... content, you know? As much as leaving right now sounds tempting, staying here for a little while longer doesn't sound too bad."
Ronny watched as her eyes trailed from his resting hands all the way up to his chest slowly before she fully looked him into the eyes. She stretched her long legs out before laying beside him, close enough that their heads touched and he could smell the flowers in her hair from the garden. "Well, if you were to leave, where would you want to go?"
"Somewhere with many fields and flowers," she replied instantly, without a second thought. "They've always been so peaceful to me. That's why I love the garden so much. It makes me feel at ease with every chaotic thing swimming through my mind. And when you're there with me, it sets me at peace."
Slowly, a warm feeling settled in his chest and a small smile was brought upon his lips. He closed his eyes and saw, once again, red. "I'd go somewhere with an ocean. I've been to the ocean once in my life, and I loved every bit of it. The smell, the sounds of waves crashing together, the calmness of the soft waves, and how connected I felt to everything and nothing all at once."
"I've never been to the ocean."
"Then that's even more reason why we should go sometime." He heard her turn herself towards him but she did not say a word. After a few moments, he opened his eyes to see a slight smile on her pale lips and warmth circling her eyes. It was one of the first times he had seen genuine happiness so bright, and it made him begin to feel the same way too.
"I'd love to, Ronny."
