'REMUS LUPIN' ripped through the hall, seemingly louder than all of the other names - well particularly to him. He stood there a bit shocked that it had come around so fast, he was still so surprised, and happy for Sirius who, he couldn't believe, was the first Black to ever be placed in Gryffindor.
After a brief glance around the enchanted hall Remus shuffled up to the stool, nervous at the idea of having no control over where he was put. Remus had originally thought that, being a nerd and all he would be placed in Ravenclaw, however, remembering his monster like tendencies, decided that maybe Slytherin would be the one.
Remus gingerly perched on the stool, his almost ridiculously long legs scraping the floor as he waited with nervous anticipation for the hat to be placed upon his head. Lost in his own thoughts as he chewed at his thumbnail - a habit he had been trying to kick for absolutly ever due to its unfortuate reminder of his wolfish desires - he was almost startled off his seat as a wise voice began to swirl about his head. 'What's this? Something new to sort how fun - ' the sorting hat began, Remus instantly cringing at his clearly obvious separation from the rest of the students and prepareing himself for the inevitable lack of acceptance. 'Hey, hey little wolf there's no need to run... or maybe, just maybe I was wrong - I see that wasn't your intention all along' continued the hat, apparently sensing a hint Remus' defiance and anger at the term used to describe his character. 'There are smarts there and kindness too, a hint of cunning but your bravery also is true... the courage to come despite your fears to face each day amoungst your peers... I can see it now i'll ponder no more - there's only one house for you and thats: "GRYFFINDOR!" '
Remus sat still, a wide grin splitting his face as he glanced to the gryffindor table where Sirius was screaing and cheering - already shoving students aside to make room for his new best friend who couldnt quite believ his luck. Remus darted up, tripping over his long limbs as he caught the long haied boy's eye from the steps glinting with what could only be described as pure glee. Pushing through the masses or first years yet to be sorted stopping to high five James and Pete alomg the way he eventually found himself squidged in next to Sirius and the rest of his new family as an odd warm feeling wove its way though his chest and settled there.
Sirius turning to him asked simply with a glint in his eye and a quirk or his eyebrow: 'Bets on little Pete and James' houses? Loser for James looses their first hogwarts dessert and loser for James gets first pick of the dorm beds?' Remus laughing at his new friends ridiculousness nods before turning back to the sorting, now interupted by quick jabs and witty remarks from Sirius that, by the time it gets to 'P' have them both in muffled fits of hysteria.
James unsurprisingly becomes a gryffindor and - to Sirius' disbelief also joins them shortly after at the table. Sirius, pouting, turns to Remus with a mock glare at his loss of choice in the bed matter (both boys in the end picked gryffindor for James so got to keep their puddings - Remus however allowing Sirius some out of pity and also from being at the mercy or Sirius' soon to be famous puppy-dog eyes.) The boys chatted animatedly about rumors of the gryffindor common room and Remus recounted all he had read on the matter, recieving a few remarks about how he really should have been a Ravenclaw as thats where all the nerds end up. These however were shut down quickly by a quick glare from Remus and James exclaiming defensively - albeit sweetly how happy he is that they all ended up in the same house.
Overwhelmed their luck Remus and Sirius turned to each other - shook their heads in disbelief grinning at the impossibility of it all.
