My Girl
•Cora above/to the side•
~Chapter Two~
A knock at the door woke me up from my deep slumber. Cora laid next to me with her head on my arm and her head on my chest. I lifted my head up slightly, becoming dizzy from the action.
Blankets surrounded us, creating a bubble of protection. I silently got up as another knock came at the door.
I stood without disturbing Cora which was hard since she was practically attached to me.
I pushed the sheets out of my way so that I could walk to the door. I stumbled on my feet as a yawn escaped my mouth. I scratched my head knowing very well that my hair looked like someone attached it while I was asleep by just the way it felt.
I made it to the door while another round of knocking came. I opened the door as another yawn came to me. I turned to the man that stood on my front door.
He wore a blue jumpsuit with his name embroidered into the material. It said, Bobby in cursive letters.
"Oh sorry if I woke you," he replied awkwardly.
I waved him off as I leaned against the door frame lazily. I closed my eyes and was just about to fall asleep against it when Bobby cleared his throat.
"Sorry, I am guessing you're the movers?" I asked in a tired voice.
He nodded and pointed to the truck behind him. I opened my door wider so that they could get through the door.
"Well what's the first thing that is coming in?" I asked pushing off of the trim and standing in front of Bobby.
"The two couches," he said while turning to two guys that stood by the truck. "Go on and bring them in."
The two men nodded and opened the door up. I watched as they picked up the large couch and made their way to inside.
"The couches go over there," I instructed.
We all got a routine going with them carrying things inside and me telling them where it all goes. It was easy for them since this was just a one floor house. I mean, we do have an attic but I am not putting anything up there.
In just under an hour everything was in place. I paid the movers and closed the door. It still surprised me that Cora was still asleep. She lay under bunches of covers and pillows making her look even smaller then she already was.
I smiled and got my camera to take a picture. Once I clicked the button the camera printed a copy on the picture on a white piece of paper for me instantly.
It was one of those old cameras that gave you the picture as soon as you took it. I loved taking pictures of Cora because I put them in a scrap book for her so when she goes to college she can look at them.
I took the picture and camera back to my room. I made my way back to Cora so I could wake her up from her sleeping state.
I placed my hand on her cheek and whispered softly to her so she would wake up. It didn't take long for her to open her eyes and smile back at me. I pushed her knotted hair out of her eyes and kissed her forehead softly.
"Good morning sweetheart," I whispered to her.
She giggled and squirmed in my arms. She stood up suddenly looking around her noticing all the furniture that was in the house.
"When did all this come?" she asked as she ran to the couches and flopped on them happily.
"Just about an hour ago. You slept through it all," I said and made my way to the kitchen. "Do you want breakfast?"
