My Girl
~Chapter Eight~
For the rest of the week I did my paperwork since Finn was so far behind on it.
Honestly, I didn't see much of Finn. We both stayed in our offices or he left to do other things. I talked to him in the mornings, like bringing him his coffee and asking what he wanted for lunch if he was in his office. But we mostly stayed apart and for some reason that bothered me.
It was like I lived on earth just to see him or hear him say my name. I didn't like the feeling but it was like it was drilled into my head so I longed to be by him. I knew it was wrong because I plan to stay single the rest of my life. I don't want Cora to have to go through my boyfriend phase. It could be hard for her.
Like, what if I pick another Blake. I mean, he beat me for gods sake, I couldn't have Cora be beaten too.
"Hey Mr. Finn?" I asked as I placed his lunch on his desk.
He looked up from his computer screen and smiled at my presence. And I couldn't help but smile back because he was just so beautiful.
"You know Samantha, you can call me Finn," Finn said.
"I know," I shrugged.
"Then I insist you call me Finn," he stated with a boyish grin on his face.
I sighed and rolled my eyes, "Fine. Finn it is then."
Finn smiled and stood up from his seat. I noticed his brown curls looked extra messy today, and I have the sudden urge to run my fingers through them. But I stopped myself and composed.
"What is it you need sweetheart?" he purred.
I almost fell back and fainted just by the way he said those words. I thought I might just shove all this stuff off Finn's desk to the floor and attack the man.
"I-um was wondering if there is a local swimming pool in the area? I wanted to surprise my daughter this weekend so she could go swimming," I explained.
Finn shook his head, "No. The local hotel is renovating theirs. But I have a swimming pool of my own, you may come over and swim if you would like."
Finn said as if it wasn't a big deal. But to me it was. I mean, I was going to be in a bathing suit. And what if he was going to go swimming with us? I would see his amazing body which would surely make me melt.
"I don't know Finn. You're my boss and I don't think that's appropriate," I fiddled with his desk top.
"Sure it is. Boss's have parties for coworkers all the time," he pressed. "I insist that you bring your daughter, Saturday, to my house for swimming. I have a really nice swimming pool."
I chuckled at his last comment. He sounded so sure of himself that he had a nice pool. I sighed and still thought about the problem at hand.
I know Cora has been wanting to go swimming lately and so what better way to swim is at your boss's house? (I hope you hear my sarcasm.)
"Well," trailed off while glancing Finn's way.
He looked hopeful which made me crack. I nodded and a large smile broke onto his face.
I knew it most likely wasn't a good idea for me to go but Cora has wanted to start swimming. She was really good at it and it's not like I could just buy an in-ground pool. It would take weeks for people to finish it.
"Why don't you come to my house at 10," Finn suggested.
"Do I need to bring any food?" I asked growing irritated.
