"I have seen many things, child,"
Said the raindrop to the girl,
"I have flown above you,
Hanging only to microscopic pieces of trash, to form an enormous mass called a cloud,
I have lived for forever, seeing things people can only dream of seeing,
I have dived deep into the ocean, only to have been brought up again to the sky,
I am servant to the sun, which controls what I do and where I am,
I have seen the dinosaurs,
Seen the time before you,
And watched you grow,
I gave you life when you drank me,
And each little piece of me holds a different story.
I have heard many from my equals, and together we live,
I have fallen from these clouds so many times before, so that it no longer hurts to hit the ground.
I have turned into other things, other versions of my self;
I have seen a great many things, child, and can tell you of them all,"
Said the raindrop to the girl,
But the young girl didn't hear him as she stood among the raindrops,
Each of their cries mixing together to form the sound of rain.
