After Fear and Disgust told the others that they were going to have their very first child, they were very sure that with new emotions coming to Headquarters meant Riley developing new ones.
This was certainly the biggest surprise in HQ.
But after a few days had passed, Joy now had the biggest secret of her own. . .and she was keeping it from her own boyfriend.
For Joy was and very much totally. . . . . . pregnant with their child.
How was she going to tell Anger? How was he going to react to the news? Would he be happy or not about being a father? She didn't know.
This was the very first time that Joy was being worried instead of being positive. And most importantly, it was very stressful for her to keep a secret like this.

Later that night, Joy woke up feeling incredibly sick.
Being pregnant meant having those symptoms, mostly nausea.
Her stomach was cramping and churning like crazy, she hurried her way to the restroom to do the one thing she hated most, puking.
Joy didn't know it, but Sadness has woken up to her yellow friend's suffering and walked to the restroom where Joy was located.
Now inside, Sadness saw her best friend kneeling down, her face inside the toilet.
"J-Joy, are you alright", she asked the yellow emotion.
Joy had never said this word before, but with this kind of torture inflicted on her, she had no choice but to.
"No, for the first time in forever I'm not alright, Saddy", Joy replied.
"Joy, what's going on with you", Sadness asked.
Joy finally explained everything.
"Joy, why didn't you tell us sooner", Sadness asked.
"I'm just not sure that Anger will take it easily, what if he doesn't want to be the father", Joy replied.
"Wow Joy, for the first time you're not positive. Anger's going to have to know sooner or later", Sadness said.
"Alright, I'll tell him, but when I'm ready, okay", the yellow emotion said.
"Okay", Sadness agreed, "but I still got dibs on babysitter".
"Of course you will", Joy said.
Sadness left the restroom, leaving Joy alone.

She cleaned herself up and went back to bed.
Sadness was right about what she had said earlier in the restroom, she was going to have to tell him sooner or later.
But she needed some time to think about it.
