Chapter Twenty-four - Reevaluate

Another yawn was a signal that Myer Strickland’s body demanded him to go to sleep, this was the fifth in the last ten minutes. However there was no time to sleep. He was currently in one of the hideouts of The Movement, planning their next move. He had recently heard from his sister that the new person in charge was named Jeremy, and from what she saw, he was even worse. For Myer, anyone in power was a danger.

He pushed his black-framed glasses back up and looked around the room. The fellow members of The Movement looked as tired as he did. “I guess that’ll be all for tonight.” he told them before checking the time. It was nearly ten in the morning. “Or, ...wow… should I say today?” he corrected himself. Now he really needed to sleep.

“We got new recruits!”it seemed he wouldn’t be getting it just yet. The door to the main room suddenly burst open with the announcement. Myer wasn’t the only one to draw his gun as a response to the unexpected entrance of his comrade.

Though the security of their hideout was tight, they could never be sure. They had lost many hideouts with tight security before. Luckily the hideouts could not be spotted by the surveillance system used at the HQ. Their informants did their job well at updating their cloaking hack with any update Under Century came up with to fight against it.

The announcement for the new recruits came from Billie, a fellow NPC, that was in The Movement against the control of Under Century over their and everyone else’s lives.

Billie was one of the few friends Myer had left in The Movement, as most of the others were killed or reset, and the rest of the people in The Movement were more like his followers than friends. Unlike the other members of The Movement, Billie hated being discreet, which is why she was fairly open about her involvement with The Movement, and Myer was glad that she still wasn’t reset for it. Today her hair was straight and shoulder length. She had changed it’s colour to blood red. Her fashion sense was very rebel-like as well. She would wear usually wear dark coloured tank tops under a matching jacket. Having two guns strapped to her shoulder holsters which would be hidden behind the jacket. Today wasn’t any different.

Followed by new recruits, Billie walked towards the middle of the room. Their entrance made Myer and the others raise their guns once more.

The recruits appeared to be three male and a female player. Although The Movement was for the freedom of both NPC’s and players, this wasn’t the first time they had player recruits, but last time caused mistrust towards any player wanting to join The Movement.

The recruits all raised instinctively raised their hands. “Woah.” one of them even exclaimed as he moved his hand up.

“These are players.” Myer told Billie from behind his teeth.

“I can see that.” Billie stepped forward, between Myer and one of the ‘recruits’. “They’re cool. Trust me.”

“I do trust you Billie, it’s them I don’t trust.” Myer glared at the one behind Billie.

“Look man, we are seriously here to help.” he informed Myer.

“That’s what the other players said. We learnt not to work with players.”

“Bullshit!” Billie spat. “How about your sister! You just spoke to her, and you know god damn well that she works with players that are at the same side as us.”

“They are not a part of The Movement! They just happen to be aiding our cause without participating for now. I have no reason to interfere with them.”

“Myer. Trust me. They are cool.” Billie slowly moved her hand towards Myer’s weapon and he lowered it. The others followed his lead.

“Fine.” Myer said, stepping away then turning at the newbie that spoke. “But if any of you try anything shady, I will fuck you up. I will watch you...” he looked at the rest of them. “and you, and you, and you.” he sighed “What are your names?”
