Chapter Five – Sixth Floor
The bell of the elevator rang as it arrived the first floor. Seven employees were going up to sixth floor for the first time and they all got inside. Their faces were filled with excitement. One of them, Derek, pressed the sixth floor button and they started to go up. He looked around the elevator. Everyone were making guesses about the sixth floor.
“I heard that the walls are made of gold.” Bishop Winfred told everyone. He had shorter hair then Derek, but the same hair color. He had circular glasses, black framed.
“No, I don't think they got that far.” Lee, Derek forgot his surname, commented to that. He was the only Asian Derek met in the company. He worked at Development with Bishop. Lee was younger then Bishop though. Derek's guess was Bishop was at least thirty. Lee was nine-teen like him, Jane and Mike who were also in the elevator.
Derek haven't met the other two yet, they were a couple, Derek heard. The girl was taller then the boy. She had ginger hair and huge green eyes, and the boy kinda reminded him Nate Greeb, only younger. His hair was also black and eyes brown. He had a small scratch at his cheek. Derek wondered where he got that from.
“I hear the sixth floor has it's own food court, that's why we don't see anyone who work at the sixth floor at the food court.” Mike shrugged, that sounded believable.
“Does anyone know why we are going up?” Lee asked, the bell of the elevator rang and the doors opened so his question was unanswered.
Everyone tried to get a look as they walked out. They entered a huge room, no one was there. It had desks by the walls, a huge fountain in the middle it had the symbol of the company, there were some benches by the fountain. The walls were white and the floors were marble. At the right corner was a small food court and some tables to eat it. There were no doors except the one at the right corner of the room.
The door opened before Nate Greeb entered the room followed by two women, one was his assistant and the other one...
“It's 'The Girl With The Fire Hair'” Jane whispered to Derek “She is the one who fired Colin because he didn't win.”
“Good morning everyone.” Nate Greeb greeted them, smiling “Welcome to the sixth floor, where you will be working from now.” there was a short pause and Nate looked at the girls standing behind him “You will work for Mae Greeb... My sister.” Nate nodded at 'The Girl With The Fire Hair' “You'll be working on a new program, and before I tell you what it is, I would like to show you to your rooms.”
“I'm sorry, sir...” Lee took a step forward, he was confident of himself “'Our Rooms?'”
“Yes, Lee.” Nate Greeb answered calmly “You'll be living here now, this project is urgent and we need to be quick about it. Now if you all can follow me...” he started to walk to the door and everyone followed him.
When they passed the door they entered a huge corridor, pretty much like the ones at the other floors, it had doors at both sides, all of them to rooms where they will be staying. Some of the doors had names written on them, Derek noticed, 'Jane Forest' at his right. He guessed that was Jane's room. He continued to look at the doors trying to find his name, and he finally saw it. 'Derek Carlisle'
He got in and it was huge. It looked like a hotel suite. It had a bed twice the size of his bed, and a huge Television in front of it. There was a tablet computer on his bed. Derek smiled, he thought he could really stay here, but he had to go to his house and get some stuff. It would be nice to finally move from his parents, but staying at his workplace, it seemed, weird...
When he entered the main room again, everyone was there and they were looking at him. Derek, slightly embarrassed, walked next to Jane.
“Okay, now I can begin.” Nate started, smiling calmly “This Project is something my father worked on for a very long time. Please know that this is not a game. You have been picked because you are the best employees in the company, and I need this to be done, fast. So this project is-”
