Charlie waited in the line to use the phone. She had to go through a entire lecture just to use it because she had never used it before. The person before her was almost finished with their call. Her hands shook. This was her only chance of getting any sorta help outa here. The only problem was this person hated her and most likely wanted her dead.
"Time up." The guard said to the woman on the phone. She rolled her eyes and said goodbye before eventually hanging up.
It was her turn now. Never in her life had she been more terrified. When she suggested this idea to the girls she didn't think it would be her who would have to to do it. Katie's brother would help her but he was a last resort really because he was the most likely person or snitch to the police. Glinda has only sibling was about five, Naomi had no siblings and neither did Edith.
When the other woman had been escorted back to her cell the guard nodded at her. Indicating she could use the phone. Silently she made her way towards it and picked it up. She knew the number off by heart and had never forgotten it.
With shaky fingers she pressed the metal buttons and dialled the number in. Charlie was only allowed three times to try and get the other person to pick up the phone.
"Here goes nothing..." she mumbled to her self before pressing the dial button.
It rung once. Twice. Three times. On the fourth time she heard the sound of the answer machine saying that her call couldn't be taken at the moment.
Hanging the phone on the receiver she picked it up again and tried the number again.
It did exaclty the same before going to the answer machine. It almost looked like they wouldn't pick up.
"One more chance." The guard warned her.
"Yes I know..." she mumbled as she began to type the number again.
It began to ring. Again. Again. Again. The voice of the answer machine lady answered. She didn't want to bother leaving a message. As she went to hang up the phone for the last time she heard the faint click of the phone being answered.
"Hello?" A male voice asked.
Her breath was caught in her lungs. She couldn't breath. She hasn't heard this voice for years and now it was finnaly in her ear again.
"Hello?" They asked again.
"I-Err." Charlie couldn't think of what to say.
"Who is this?"
"It's me Darren...how've you been bro?"
Sorry this was more of a filler than anything! Had it be done!!
