The truth about me

Four POV:
I sit next to Tris in the Nurse's office. According to the nurse, Tris doesn't have a concussion, but she is in need of food as well as rest.

After this, I am taking her home. Wherever her home is. I look back at Tris and time slows down, then speeds up again.

The truth is, I had given up on love. That is until I saw her. It took about 6 months to realize my feelings for her, but when I did, I was instantly entranced by her.

Sure, she's not conventionally attractive, but I absolutely love it. She's not beautiful, but she is striking. And it's not even her looks that draw me to her. It's her commitment to whatever she does. Her selflessness. Her constant want to fight for what's right. Everything.

Oh Dear Lord, now I sound like I'm in a Nicholas Sparks novel or a badly written CW show.

Tris stirs to life beside me with a groan.

"How long was I out?" She asks, putting her palm on her forehead, most likely to ward off an impending headache.

"An hour. You passed out on the way to third period. And before you ask, I am taking you home and you are going to eat." I reply, hopefully keeping her from protesting.

Spoiler Alert: It didn't work out.

"Four, I have to do my scholarship applications and—"

"You can do that tomorrow. Tris, your health comes first," I reply, cutting her probable excuse off.

Huffing and crossing her arms, Tris nods and I take her arm to help her walk to the office.

I think it might be the time to tell her the truth about me.

Tris POV:
Four and I walk out of school and I take him to my car. Handing him the keys, he unlocks the door and gets in the driver's side as I hop in the passenger seat.

As we leave the school, I look at Four, and something is obviously on his mind.

I drum my fingers against my thigh and pull out my phone from my backpack. I see a text from Christina asking if I'm okay and apologizing for being pushy.

I text back, telling her I'm fine and that I accept her apology when Four breaks the silence.

"Tris, how come you haven't eaten in so long?" Four asks without a hint of judgement, just worry.

"I forgot to eat dinner last night because I was working on an essay as well as Pre-Cal and I didn't eat today because I was busy and stressed. I promise, I'm fine." I reply, putting emphasis on the word fine.

Nodding, Four asks, "Okay, where is your house?"

I smile and give him every direction by landmarks, and I note with pleasure that he doesn't drive like a maniac.

Eventually, we get to my house and I grab my backpack from the backseat and walk with Four up the path to my house.

I walk in and sigh, the brief feeling of loneliness washing over me until I see Four beside me.

"What do you think?" I ask, motioning around my house.

Four grins and replies, "Not bad. I'm assuming Caleb is at college and your parents are away still?"

I nod and reply, "C'mon, I have food in the fridge and freezer. We can both eat."

I walk into my kitchen and pull out some pizza that I bought 2 nights ago and heat up 3 slices.

"Tris, I need to tell you something," he says, making me turn around. "I think it's time that I tell you the truth about me."

"What do you mean, Four?" I inquire as the microwave dings.

"You don't know my story. I think that you deserve to know." He says as I pull my pizza out of the microwave.

"Okay. I trust you. Go ahead and tell me." I reply, taking a bite out of my hot pizza.

"Well, for starters, don't call me Four," he begins, pulling up a stool to the island. "Because my real name is Tobias. Tobias Eaton. I was the former Mayor's son. I left 10 months ago after he was put in prison for Money Laundering, Aggravated Assault, and Attempted Murder. The last two charges were because of me," he says, and I give him a look of respect. "He abused me for 17 years, and I almost died from internal bleeding," He looks at me and bluntly says, "You're not giving me 'the look.'"

My eyebrows furrow together as I reply, "What 'look?'"

"Like I'm a kicked puppy. That's how the police looked at me after I told them everything. That's how the jury looked at me." He says with a relieved look in his eyes.

I grin and reply, "Well, you're not."

And I fall more in love with him as he laughs and thanks me.

I come around the bar and give him a hug around his waist because I'm too short to hug his neck.

"Thank you for telling me, Tobias." I say, testing his name out.

Tobias grins, and hugs me back. I feel my heart feels at home with him.

"Tris?" Tobias asks as I look up.

"Yes, Tobias?" I reply with a smile as I feel Tobias's hands shake.

"I have another confession to make," He begins as he clenches his hands to keep them from shaking. "I have had feelings for you since last December. And I know that if I don't ask now, I never will," He says as he pulls away from me. "Tris Prior, will you do me the absolute honor of becoming my girlfriend?"

I nod with a smile that threatens to split my face. I can't believe that he actually has the same feelings that I do.

I jump into his arms and give him the tightest embrace I can muster. He hugs back and kisses my head.

I smile in disbelief. If this is a dream, I will kill the man who tries to wake me.
