Chapter 5: Assassin and Magi

Kyoto, Japan, the same day
Another man walked into the room of councilors, despite not wearing the hood, his being there proved to be that he was an assassin, the council stood up once he arrived.
"Ah, Izumi, we are glad you could make it, we have a troublesome problem on us" a councilor spoke
"What trouble are we talking about mentors?" Izumi had asked
"We need your help, have you heard the legend of Edward Alzano?" Another councilor had asked
"Huh?, you mean the first western magician who rose to become a powerful sage of magic in medieval times?" Izumi asked confused
"You see, the ring of Aizetas, it has been found..." A councilor stated
Izumi was shocked about the discovery of the ring, given the fact that the ring was a very powerful artifact, despite it's age
"Impossible!, the ring of Aizetas was kept secret from our allies, from almost everyone, how did the ring become public?!"
"Calm down, the ring is safe for now, but there was a reason we summoned you here" one of the councilors stated
"B-but the ring should be with the American brotherhood, right?"
The council looked down in fear and disillusionment
"N-no..., it can't be..., t-the American br-brotherhood was..., destroyed...?" Izumi asked in fear
"No, it was worse..., a single magi..., purged the entire brotherhood with the support of the American Rite of the magis, right now we are uncertain whether that magi is searching for the ring, but until the mean time, we are entrusting this ring to you, keep it safe, keep it secret, and you must not whisper a word to anyone about this, we are no longer certain who we can trust.
Izumi could not believe it, he found it hard to believe that such things came to pass, but reality is what it is, now he had no choice but to hold on to a relic of power that should be destroyed before anyone dares to use it, he had his doubts of it though, whoever kept this ring would be a target for the magi who seeks it, yet he held on to it, until an uncharted location was found to bury it forever.
