At the loft, Mako collapsed on the couch, exhausted and frustrated with his day. Of course he had to meet the Avatar and ruin any chance of becoming friends.
He shook his head quickly. Not friends. Who would want to be friends with a whiny, selfish, ignorant, rude, beautiful...
Mako groaned. This wasn't going well. Korra was beautiful, but her attitude wasn't something Mako liked.
"She was nice to Bolin," his thoughts whispered.
"Shut up," he said.
From the other side of the room, in their makeshift kitchen, Bolin stirred the rice he was making and looked thoughtfully at his brother. Something was definitely on his mind. What could it be?
Bolin tapped the spoon against his chin, watching as Mako shook his head, as if arguing with himself.
He couldn't be thinking about...Korra?
Bolin would have laughed if he wasn't a bit worried. He actually really liked Korra, but if his smooth-talking older brother came into the picture, he had little to no chance. Of course, Mako hadn't had a crush on someone in awhile. Maybe it was a good thing.
The rice over boiling disrupted his train of thought and he scrambled to clean up the hot water. Grabbing bowls and chopsticks, he dished out the food and walked over to the couch, where Mako was still sitting silently.
Bolin broke the silence, as he handed a bowl to Mako, who hungrily started eating.
"So, thinking about a certain butt-kicking brunette?"
At Bolin's words, Mako spat out rice all over the floor. His face got red.
"What? No. Of course not. She may be the Avatar, but that doesn't mean I need to be thinking of her," Mako said, as he grabbed a towel and a broom.
"Now look what you've made me do," Mako said with a grin. "And guess who gets to clean it?"
Bolin groaned as Mako handed him the supplies and tried to give it back. But Mako gave a quick smirk and was out the door.
"I'll be back, have fun. And don't get in any trouble, little bro."
Mako disappeared and Bolin shook his head. He was always heading out, doing God knows what with God knows who. Bolin didn't really approve of it, but if Mako was okay with it, then who was he to argue with his big brother?
As Bolin started to clean up, simultaneously chewing his food, Mako's head popped into the doorway.
"And don't you be thinking about a certain, butt-kicking brunette."
Bolin spat out his food.
