-Day 6-

I awoke, startled by a loud crash outside of the van that I sheltered in. It was stuffy on the inside, but luckily it wasn't locked. When I found the blue van it was really dark out and I couldn't think of anything but sleep. Sitting up from my sleeping position, I looked around the driver's seat for any sign of a key. Not being able to see one, I cautiously opened the sliding door to investigate the sound.

I opened the door slightly to fit the M4 through. I slowly loaded it and poked the barrel out of the now open doorway. I saw an angry Matthew and two other men standing outside unimpressed, one had a glock and the other had a machete. Fear pounding in my chest, I lined up the M4 and shot the man with the glock. The man tumbled the floor as blood started flowing from the new wound in his back. The kickback of the gun averted my second shot to his chest and it caused a sudden pain in my shoulder. I'd never shot a gun before and I almost dropped it in fear. While I was still watching the events of the first shot the machete guy menacingly crept towards me, brandishing his machete and prepared to strike. Without needing to reload, I shot again. I saw the bullet sail into his head and the man drops to the floor. I pull open the door to the van and I crouch walk towards the machete. Still crouched, I grabbed the machete, glaring at Matthew for him to back off. "How did you find me?" I questioned, standing up, brandishing a machete as if it was my new toy. Slowly beginning to circle around him, he rolled his eyes at my bad attempt to be threatening. "Ender, you really aren't the brightest spark, are you?" He teased in an oddly calm manner, making my eyes widen for a split second. His smirk made him all the more dislikeable, "Although I can give you one thing, it was lucky that you left. Otherwise, I would've shot you with my gun," I glanced down at the M4 before looking back at Matthew, shrugging my shoulders in a careless manner as I was pretending like I wasn't scared.
