I put my phone back into my bag and watched as the remaining passengers board the plane. Many business men were screaming through their phones which was unnecessary. I looked at the magazine in front of me that is in the pocket of the seat.

I was scanning through the magazine when a kid about my age maybe a bit younger or older sat in the seat next to me. He had dark brown hair that was almost in a quiff haircut. He was tall maybe an estimated six foot I wasn't sure. He put his backpack with a soccer ball in one of the pockets. Then he looked up and he wasn't the worst looking guy I've seen, but he had some really nice eyes.

"Hi, I think this is my seat." He said and I let out a small laugh. He looked at his ticket again and looked at the outside of the overhead compartment. "Yeah this is my seat." He said sitting back in his chair. "I'm Shawn by the way." He said holding out his hand. "I'm Katie it's nice to meet you." I replied shaking his hand.

I put the magazine back in the pocket and got out a piece of gum because of the pressure when the elevation of plane as it goes higher.

"Do you want a piece? It helps with the ears." I said being polite. "Yeah, thank you." Shawn said as he took a piece of gum. "Are you a track athlete?" He asked as I put the gum back in my bag. "Yeah, are you a soccer player?" I asked pointing to the soccer ball in his bag. "Yeah, they wouldn't let me roll this thing around when I was leaving from Toronto, it was sad." Shawn stated as I chuckled. "So you're from Canada?" I asked stating the obvious. "Yeah I'm going to be in the United States for the summer for this Soccer camp at UNC Chapel Hill." He said taking the soccer ball out and playing with it in his hands. "Yeah I got invited to the same thing only it was for cross country and track and field." I said scratching my forearm. "Oh well at least I have someone I know that's going with me to the campus." He said putting the soccer ball back in his bag.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen." The flight attendant said in a high pitched voice. "Oh god." I heard Shawn mumble and rubbed his temple. "It's way to early for this." I said as I sat back in my seat.

"All of these precautions are to ensure your safety while flying with us. Thank you again for choosing American Airlines." She said as the loudspeaker shut off.

"I think she may have accidentally inhaled a chipmunk." I said trying to relieve my headache. "I'm glad somebody said it." Shawn said putting his elbow on the armrest and resting his chin in his hand.

"Good morning this is your captain speaking before our departure, we have about two hours and forty five minutes of flying time until we reach Charlotte. Please fasten your seat belt as we prepare for departure and we would like you to sit back and relax and enjoy the flight. And flight attendants please prepare the cabin." The pilot said over the intercom and flight attendants rushed towards the front of the plane.

"At least we have television or some form of entertainment." Shawn said as he fastened his seat belt. "I think once were in the sky we get to use the wifi." I replied as I fasten myself into my seat. "Your lucky you got the window seat." He said trying to look out of the window. "We're going to start moving soon." I said looking around me.

The plane jolted backwards causing my head to fall into the seat. "Here we go." Shawn said holding onto the armrest.

The plane traveled to the runway where it came to a rest. Then, the plane turned onto the runway. After getting positioned on the runway the plane speed down the runway to be lifted into the sky.

I looked out of the small window and saw the ground beneath us get farther away as the jet went higher into the sky. Cars below us on highways looked like a parade of ants following one after another. The visibility of the land got more and more difficult once we entered the clouds that surrounded the plane.
