1 month later...

A whole month went by and I haven't heard from August. No texts, calls, or anything. Our date went great, so I didn't understand why he went ghost like he did. I knew that shit was too good to be true. If a nigga I'm fucking with can go days at a time without talking to me, I don't need him. It was like he fell off the face of the earth.

On the other hand, Eric has been quite straight forward with me about his feelings. In his words, he fucking with me tough. He never goes a day without saying goodnight or good morning. He checks on me daily, makes sure I eat; he's just been so good to me.

I needed to get mind off of August, so I decided to divert my attention to where it was wanted; Eric.

2 hours later...

I was awaken out of my sleep because of my phone. It was Eric. I answered the FaceTime call and he appeared with a smile on his face.

"Whaaat?" I whined. He knew I hated to be woken up out of my sleep.

"Damn, a nigga can't get no love? Dats deep, Cu, but come open da door. Ya mans brought ya favorite."

I quickly hopped out of bed and sprinted downstairs. Making it to the door, I opened it.

"Waddup, Cu?"

"Hey," I said blushing.

I get so shy around him. I try not to say the wrong things or do crazy stuff because I'm afraid he'll do me the same way August did. It's August's fault I feel like I have to walk on eggshells around him.

We walked upstairs to my room in silence, but it wasn't an awkward silence. Nothing ever feels awkward around him.

"Wea ya folks at?"

"Daddy's at the studio and my mama's outta town."

Going into my room, we make our way over to the bed. He sits the Raising Cane's bag down and puts my sweet tea on the coaster on my nightstand.

"Thanks," I simply said.

"Fasho."

It didn't take me long to get my food and start smashing. I don't care who I'm around, I'm not eating cute for nobody.

It was 10 minutes later and I was done eating. I cleaned up my mess and joined Eric to cuddle. As soon as I got comfortable, he wrapped his arms around me and laid on my chest. Sometimes I feel like he only wants to come over to sleep. Just as I was dozing off, my phone started to ring.

Incoming Call: BigGUY😌

"Hey, daddy."

"What you doin', baby girl?"

"Laying down. Eric's here."

"Aight, man. I like dat lil nigga and all, but don't push it, Dee. If a nigga break yo heart, you know he gotta die."

"Daddy, we talked about this; I'm good and Eric's exceeding my expectations and I know he is with you, too, considering you went through his phone the first time you met him."

Hearing him sigh, he said, "You my only child, Dee. Ian gone neva let a nigga hurt you and get away wit it."

Little did he know, I've already been hurt.

"I understand."

"I was just checkin' on ya, so I'll talk to you lata."

With that, the phone hung up.

Putting the phone on the bed, I sighed. I always questioned myself on if I was rushing into things when I decided to spend more time with Eric. I finally let my guard down and he was everything I wanted.
