My POV
We are now here at the place I've been wanting to come back to for a while....Never land ranch! I want to see everything. The animals, the rides, the horses, the whole lot! As we exited the SUV, we all took it in, then heard the cheerfully voice of Katharine.
"Mrs. Jackson!" I yelled, I gave her a hug and she pecked my cheek. I was like the other grand daughter she never had, though she has a few.
"Tianna! So good to see you, my you've grown sense I've seen you last,"
"Yep, sophomore going on to be a junior, then after that....college, but enough about me how have you been?" I asked holding the door for her. When I was younger I always hung around the elders at my church along with my grandmother a lot, almost of the time,I feel more comfortable talking to an older adult that someone my age, it's just easier for me.
"Well, I'm doing alright, making food for the cook out," she said.
"Mind if I help?" I asked
"Of course," she smiled, I got up and walked to the kitchen, greeted by Latoya and Rebbie.
"So, what do you need me to do?" I say drying my hands on a towel.
"Well I have no idea what to do for dessert," said Rebbie, sipping her brow. I thought for a moment then came up with an idea.
"What about monkey bread," I say.
"Monkey bread?" they all asked. I rose my eyebrow, how do they not know what monkey bread is?
"Ok, do we have any canned biscuits, cinnamon, sugar?" they nodded.
"And a pound cake pan right?" they nod again. So I grabbed the pack of biscuits, and opened it. taking out one slice. I cut it into chunks. Rebbie mixed the sugar and cinnamon, while Latoya sprayed the pan.
"Mother, why you got her working?" Janet chuckled.
"She volunteered," Momma K answered, taking out the ham.
"I don't mind either way, I love cooking," I answered. I placed all the sugared pieces in the pan, and put it in the oven for about 15 minutes. I took it out, and it was a nice crisp brown.
"Tada! Monkey bread," Michael and the rest of the brothers came in, and reached to take a piece, and I slapped his and Randy' s hands away.
"No, you'll wait like everyone else you two, plus, it's still hot, so be patient," I say moving it away from them.
"Just one, please?" Michael pleaded. I shook my head and helped with everything, keeping my eye on my dessert so he wouldn't steal it.
~~7:30~~
Everyone had started to come, it was mostly the others children because nephews and other close relatives. I had made 3 more platters of monkey bread to make sure everyone got some, and I had to say,my aunt Tiny taught me well. I walked out side, and noticed a soccer ball, and I started dribbling it around, I spun it up, kneed it in the air,and rolled it off my chest back to my feet, and stopped it.
"You're pretty good at that," I turned to see Prince, Paris, and Blanket walk up to me.
"Yeah I was pretty good at it, I was on the school team," I smiles then, had an idea.
"Hey, anyone want to play a game of soccer!" I yelled, and Michael and Janet came over, along with Kayla, and Nykashia.
"I'll be referee," said Markie.
"Ok, so we need two more guys if it's boys vs girls," So, Randy and Marlon decided to join.
"Ok, so here's how the game works, each team has a goal, the other team has to get the ball into the other teams goal, now both teams need a goalie," Nykashia volunteered for the girls, while Randy did for the boys.
