It's a basic routine at our base. We all have jobs to do. Mine is sharpening the weaponry, which it takes me around an hour. Today, we've planned something pretty good but also unoriginal. Burning down the big house, yeah?
So I want to tell you about what my lunch was, or what tv shows I watched, but I figure you want me to skip right to the good stuff.
We arrived on the hill of Camp Half-Blood right when darkness started to settle in. Julie went to distract border patrol so we could slip pass. Me, Flora, and Kal nod to each other as we begin to set towards the Big House. I didn't volunteer for this since I'm a daughter of snow, but I also couldn't resist. What's more satisfying than watching a hated place burn? It's fairly late, so we expect the Big House to be empty and it is, thank Kronos. Flora picks the lock in nearly five seconds, and we slip in as Flora passes me a jug of gasoline and she pulls out a pack of matches. Kal grins, her palm already burst into flames. Daughter of Hephaestus, she is. She tells us she's going to start upstairs, as I start sloshing gasoline across the floor when the door slams open. I'm suddenly staring into the faces of Rowan, Crystal, and worst of all: Callista.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Rowan spats at us. Bitch.
"What the fuck does it look like?" I try to match her voice as I nearly finish the gasoline.
Rowan rolls her eyes and takes out a dagger, looking at Flora with eyes filled of hatred.
Flora immediately laughs as she pulls the weapon out, and she comments, "You're a daughter of Aphrodite. You're weak. I could take you in less than a minute."
Rowan squints at her, raising the dagger, "Let's see." She states.
I take a step forward between them and throw the remainder of gasoline on Rowan, sneering at her as I speak. "Get out of here. Now."
Crystal pipes up, shaking her head, "We're both daughters of Khione. We shouldn't be here. I only came to see yo-"
I raise my hand to silence her as I chuckle and say, "Cut the chick flick bullshit."
My half sister looks disappointed, but she goes behind Callista.
Callista begins to open her mouth, but is cut off when Kal, fully on fire, begins to walk down the stairs.
"Glad to join you guys." She remarked.
Rowan now suddenly seemed to notice the fact she's covered in gasoline, and she begins to back up. Looks like prom queen isn't so brave after all.
I smirk, looking at Callista as her eyes widen. Kal takes the last step, and walks into the gasoline as fire spreads through out the room. Well, half of it. We didn't calculate how much gasoline we would need. But hey, it's still spreading. The heat of it makes my forehead bead with sweat, but I pull out my sword and begin to advance towards Callista. She sees my action and pulls out hers, but speaks before she raises it. "I'm still your sister." She mumbled.
I wrinkle my nose and take a step forward, clanking my sword against hers as we evolve to fighting. I swipe at her neck but hit her cheek, and she swipes at my stomach but hits my thigh.
I take a look behind me to see Flora and Rowan battling. And Rowan is winning. That's a shocker. Rowan is forcing Flora back into the fire, and I'm about to put a shield of ice around Flora when she lunges forward like a wild a dog and takes ahold of Rowan's blond hair and spins around, throwing her straight into the fire that engulfs her fragile body immediately. Her screams are the worst thing I've heard in my life and the room begins to stink of burning flesh and melted hair. Flora looks pleased with herself as she backs up, looking to me and mouthing, "Kal's out, roof's gonna go soon."
I nod and lower my sword as I look at Callista for a second too long. I feel a hand on my arm, it's Flora and she's pulling me to the door. I turn my gaze to the body roasting on the floor, and then before I know I'm thrown outside as Flora barks out a order.
"You gotta freeze the windows!" She shouts.
She helps me to my feet and I raise my hand, breathing heavily as I put thick ice over the door and the windows. Clear ice, so we can still see in. I see Crystal run and crash into the window, then hit it repeatedly but her mouth forms a scream even we can hear. Fire licks at her arms, and she falls back into it.
Flora watches this and snickers, muttering under her breath, "Another one bites the dust."
She hums the tune as she walks with me, I'm a bit drowsy from using my powers. I keep looking at what once the begin house, and I see Callista standing in a small area which the fire is working it's way towards.
But Flora is staring at the roof, and she grabs my torso and turns me around.
I can't see it, but I hear it. The roof collapses in on itself.
And it's also the sound which I will never forget. My owns screams, my screams of horror and sadness as I shout into the night that my best friend is dead.
