I sat on my bed, tightening the strings on my lacrosse net, I had to get first line, I was done being a nobody. I started doing some intense pull ups as I was in my home alone at about 1am since my mom was working a night shift at the hospital. My mom had been a nurse for as long as I could remember, and I looked up to her for that. For some reason she'd put many people's lives before hers. She didn't just have the job because of the pay. But she had the job because of her passion to help others. And that's why I loved her so much.

I dropped down from my door frame to take a look in the mirror as sweat beamed down my forehead and chest. I then heard A thrashing sound come from outside. I was taken aback by the sound as I slowly crept outside my bathroom. I heard a rattling at my front door that made me jump. Sadly we didn't have like a gun handy, or a samurai sword like in the scary movies. Or I would have been 100% prepared for this. I had nothing to protect myself with as obviously a burglar was trying to intrude on my home, my mom didn't get off until 6am, and My dad...well...what dad?

I was an only child so it's not like one of my sibling was trying to sneak in after going out and getting hammered at some party or stoned in a fast food parking lot. I hate to admit, but I was scared i felt like a little kid during a fire, not knowing whether to hide or run. I suddenly remembered my mom kept a baseball bat in her closet.

As I went to go fetch the bat, I heard footsteps on the roof. "What the hell?"I thought in my head. This intruder is really determined, must be like a gymnast or something maybe it's boot from Dora.

I followed the footsteps towards my front porch, as I quietly stepped out I realized the porch light was on. Which had an automatic motion censor. I got close too the banister and just as I was about to look out a figure popped up in spider man position hanging from my roof. I yelped in horror as I started swinging the bat like my whole life depended on it.

"Scott" I heard a familiar voice say in a amused tone.

"Stiles what the hell are you doing?" I asked him as he was still hanging from my roof, I couldn't tell you how he thought he was gonna get down.

"That bat is really gonna save your life , just imagine if I was a bear!" Stiles said in a sarcastic tone.

"I thought you were an intruder" I said lowering the bat and starring at my weird ass best friend.

"Well I tried calling you, should have picked up." Stiles said as he looked at me with his eyes bulging out of his sockets as his face started to turn red.

"Um little help here bro?" He asked as the blood rushed to his brain. I just gave him a little push, like you would a kid on the swings at a part. And he went flying across the air and into the grass

"Thanks" he muffled through the leaves in his mouth and the pain that was probably rising through his chest.

Stiles got up and walked up to the porch "Let's go McCall" he said intimidating Coach Finstock's scratchy voice.

Stiles adjusted his plaid button down and white t-shirt as he played in his almost bald headed buzz cut.

"And where exactly are we going at 6am?" I asked him with furrowed eyebrows as I looked him dead in the eye like I was some sort of mind reader.

"There's a dead body in the woods" he said "I overheard my dad talking about it over his speaker"

Stiles' dad was the Sheriff so Stiles always got the leads on things happening here in Beacon Hills, California. His dad being the Sheriff really helped us out the time Stiles and I got caught going for a joyride in a golf cabby. It was fun you know, until we ran into the side of the station. In our defense the keys were still in the ignition so obviously somebody wanted us to take that thing for a spin.
