Now that I'm in high school and I'm mature enough to make my own decisions, Mimi got my dad to cut some slack on my dating rules. Mason has been one of my closest friends ever since 7th grade, we had a couple of classes together that year, and then in 8th grade we had maybe 3 or 4 classes together, and we always hung out at lunch, we became really close that year, and that's when I knew that I liked him, but never had the nerve to tell him. When I woke up one morning I finally felt like I had the courage to tell him, but then when I got to school everyone said he was quote on quote "sick" and that he wouldn't be back at school for maybe a week or so. That one week felt like molasses in January, slow and not fun to wait on. The next week finally came, and Mason was at school, he told me what really happened, turns out that Mason was not "sick" like everyone said he was. Mason was being moved around to a new foster home. I had no clue that he was in the system, I wish he would've told me earlier. I waited another 2-3 weeks to tell him I like him, I didn't want to add another thing to his life, but when I told him I felt relieved, he said that he liked me too, but he wanted to wait to see what happens with this foster family because he doesn't know how many more times he would be moved around, and he didn't want me to worry about him. So, we stayed close and over the summer we talked a lot, and we got to hangout whenever we would meet up at the carnivals with our groups of friends, and he told me that he likes this new home a lot, the family is really nice, and they have a younger boy, Mason loves having a "little brother". He always says that Jackson and the Grey family are the 2nd best thing that has ever happened to him, and when he's asked what the first is, his answer is "meeting my long-life best friend, Tay-Marrie Foster." When he told me that for the first time I got starstruck.

Mason is the first guy I've really caught feelings for and it wasn't just a summer thing, I really want to be with him. So now that he knows he's staying with the Grey family, Mason decided to ask me out on a date. He said he wanted to do it right and get the chance to meet my family. At this point I had to tell him about my mom, what was amazing was that his response was "Tay it's okay, everyone has their own issues and problems, and you have to know that the problem you think you have is not your fault at all, I don't want to seem rude, but it's your moms loss that she didn't stay, she's really missing out on watching her daughter grow up to be an amazing young women." That made me feel better, I know that her leaving wasn't my fault, but the fact that Mason added that I'm an amazing young woman, it gave me butterflies and it boosted my confidence a little bit. He really makes me happy, and I really hope my family sees that when they meet him on Saturday. So the plan is that Mason will come over, have dinner and meet my family, and then Mimi will drive us to the movies with Sammie. I'm glad Sam is coming with, not only is she my sister, but she's my better half and my best friend, we've been through everything together and I want her to approve of him, plus if things go terrible I can always count on Sam to be down to make a run for the house.
