As Lilly and I ride to the school, we sit in mostly silence. Occasionally, we would talk about what happened over the weekend, or what we hope will come out of our last week of school before break. I pull into the parking lot, and get out. I walk to her side of the car and open the door, offering her my hand. She hesitates, but takes my hand.

She slowly gets out of the car, and we begin to walk towards the school. She messes with the strap on her bag as we walk in. I'm thankful that the office gave us the same schedule per my dads request. We walk into our homeroom and take seats at the back of the classroom. We sit there talking as she sketches out some ideas for Halloween costumes, and Christmas sweaters for us and our siblings. It makes me happy seeing her so relaxed in a school classroom since what happened.

All during class, I can see her switching between her sketching and taking notes. By halfway through class, we were told that we could do what we wanted, and she had her headphones in and was fully engrossed in her sketching. I turn in my seat, and lean back against the wall. I smile as I watch her, occasionally writing a note with a suggestion on it and setting it on her desk.

After about 25 minutes, I see someone sit down in the seat in front of me, and tap my shoulder. I look up and see the boy from the dance on Friday. I sigh, give a small smile, and turn back. I tap on her desk, and she nods before putting all her stuff away. She looks down at her phone and blows her hair out of her face. I feel the guy tap my shoulder again. I sigh and look up.

"Can I help you?"
The boy looks taken aback by my snappy attitude. I sigh and look over at Lilly, then back at him.
"I'm sorry. We had a stressful weekend at the house. What can I do for you, Jayson? Help with homework?"

He gave me a look telling me he wasn't amused. I look over at my sister, and a small smirk plays on my face. She's typing away on my phone and grabs her bag. "Nick, grab your shit. Dad's in the office. They want us at Momma Jay's appointment when they find out the genders." She smiles and smiles at our teacher before walking out of the class.

I smile and look at Jayson. "Sorry." He shrugs. "I was just gonna ask about your sister. You talk about her history, and I was just curious about what some of it. I wanna, maybe, try and be someone she can talk to, and I wanted to know if there were topics I should avoid."

I nod, understanding where he was coming from. "Maybe you can come over for dinner. Get to know her and our family." He nods, and I walk to the car. I get in and we drive to the clinic.
