Well, that was unexpected. After days of trying to get her to talk to me, her brother tells me to come eat dinner with them. Why have I never thought to talk to him instead of her? I've wasted so much time. Oh well.
After school, I make my way to my room to change from my uniform into some nicer clothes (and by that I mean a nice pair of jeans and a button up shirt), and walk down a few houses. I stand in awe of the house before me: I deep blue exterior, brown shutters on either side of each window. I take in the lawn and, after taking a few deep breaths, I walk up to the door, and reach out to knock using the lion knocker (I think that's what it's called) when the door is opened, reveling the face of a pregnant woman, who I assume is Nick's mom and Lilly's step-mom.
She beams and gestures me inside. "You must be Jayson! I'm Momma Jay. Nick has told us much about you. He says you live right down the street, yes?" I nod slowly and follow her into the living room. I look around, and take in how open it is. I hear laughing from upstairs and she smiles, gesturing for me to go up. I walk up the stairs, into what seems to be a loft-type area. There's a huge TV on one wall, and 7 gaming chairs circled around a small, square coffee table. There are 6 blue, but one that was black, and all but two of the chairs had someone in them. Nick looks up as I step off the stairs and smiles.
"Jayson! You made it!" Nick at me over his shoulder at me, smiling. I give a small smile and look at the other four. "Right, introductions. Jayson, you might recognize them, but I'm not sure. They're on the soccer and baseball teams with me. Alex, Michael, Jack, and Charles." Each nods and waves, and Nick waves me over, and points to the chair next to one of they boys. Michael, I think is his name, and they stand. "Come join us downstairs. We're about to play monopoly, and my dad wants to play as well." I nod and walk to the stairs, following the others down. As we start the game, a loud BOOM and CRASH comes from the room on the far end of the hall upstairs. "Shite!" One of the guys, Charles, exchanges a look with Nick. After a few minutes of silence, a door opens and giggles erupt, followed by the banging of a door opening.
"CLEO! OTTO! Get back here!" Laughter comes from two children, followed by the pattering of feet on the floor upstairs. "Oh boy... This night just got a bit more interesting." I give Momma Jay a confused look, but am met with a rather amused one from her, Nick, and Nick's dad. "Bring it." They laugh, and Michael leans over to me and says "Just another dinner and game night at their house."
