I look up to see a pair of blue eyes. The kind I have seen.

"Emily, hi, what are you doing here?" Ethan asks.

"Um, hi. I was just helping Gracy clean her backyard for tomorrow's party. Why are you here?" I ask, a little startled by his sudden appearance.

His eyes were darting around, looking at the backyard while he spoke, "Oh, nothing much, the usual."

His eyes doesn't meet mine and I get suspicious. So, I wave my hand in front of his face to get his attention.
That definitely gets his attention.

"EMILY! You've cut yourself." He says while he examines my hand.

"No shit dude." I reply curtly.

"Well, let's get some medicine on your hand." He says while he pulls me.

"Whatever"

After arguing whether caramel or chocolate is better for 15 minutes, Ethan decides to take me to Starbucks to prove his point that caramel is better than chocolate.

"Where is the first-aid box?" He asks me.

"Um, let me think, HOW WILL I KNOW?" I snap at him.

"Well..."

He starts opening random cupboards trying to find the box.

Even after searching for 10 minutes, he couldn't find it.
He doesn't give up, keeps searching in the drawers until he came across a file marked in red saying 'SAMPLE ONE' across it.

I turn to Ethan to tell him to stop searching, but I see him texting something on his phone. Boy, he looks serious.

Ethan, I think we should go. I'll ask Gracy for the bandages. I'll tell her that you're here to meet her as well.

As I turn around and start walking, I'm jerked behind by a pair of strong hands.

"NO!" He says scaring me.

"No?" I ask in a confused way.

"No." He says.

"Why not?"

"You cannot tell Gracy that I am here. It's a secret. Trust me, you don't want to know." He says.

"What if I want to know?"

"Well, you will get to know about it, someday. Promise me that you will tell nobody about us. Promise me that you will trust no one. I will tell you all about it. But not now." He whispers.

I look into his eyes.

My instincts tell me to step away from him and run away.
But something in my mind tells me that I should trust him.

"Promise me." He says in a whisper.

"Promise." I say while I nod and turn to leave.

After returning home, I go to my room and take a shower to relax myself.

I kept thinking about what he told me.

Us.

After showering and changing into my pajamas, I clean my wounds and put bandages on them.
It suddenly occured to me that I hadn't seen Marley all day.

Marley was my dog, my pug.
He is usually running around in the house and making noices.

Today, my home seemed strangely quite.

I decided to go check on my pet.

"Mom, where is Marley? I haven't seen him while day."

"You were really busy so I told Jake to take Marley for a walk. He might get here soon." My mom says, while she sets up the dinner table.

"Oh..."

Jake is Graces' son who is a good friend of mine. He is my age as well but he goes to Colebrook High school.

I am distracted by the smell of bacon.

My stomach grumbles and I go take a seat and have the most delicious meals.

After dinner, while lying on the bed, the thoughts of today came back and I slept to the face of Ethan Maxwell in my mind.
