Afraid

We sit together everyday,
our eyes cast down, as we are afraid to look into each other's eyes
afraid of what we're gonna see,
afraid of what they will see.
We don't say much,
afraid, we will say the truth
Our ears stuffed with cotton balls
as we are afraid we are gonna hear,
the whispers of their demons
as well as ours
Our screams and cries, muffled
by our fake smiles
Our lies united us
While our truths divided,
So we put our beautiful masks on,
everyday,
In an attempt to hide our ugly souls.
