I sat up and listened closely to the dorm. Everyone seemed awake and moving around for the first day of classes. I slid out of bed and waved my hand towards my trunk bringing it towards me. My entire body felt drained after that dream. I dressed quickly and left the dorm into the common room and Hermione was looking up at a new poster.
"GalLonS oF GaLLEoNs! - Pocket money failing to keep pace with your outgoings? like to earn a little more gold? Contact Fred and George Weasley, Gryffindor common room. For simple, part time, virtually painless jobs"
"Those twins," I chuckled as Hermione took down the poster, arguing with Ron about confronting them.
"Harry you look upset about something," I nudged him with my elbow and furrowed my eyebrows.
"Seamus reckons Harry and you are lying about You-Know-Who," Ron filled in for him. I guess that's what the yelling was in the boys dorm was last night.
"Lavender thinks so too," Hermione sighed, shaking her head lightly as we entered the breakfast hall.
"Have you been talking about her how I'm an attention seeking prat?," Harry said under his breath, unable to hold back
"No she hasn't, in fact I heard Hermione last night tell Lavender to shut her big mouth," I snapped "Quit jumping down their throats Harry, they're on our side,"
He sighed heavily and seemed to think on it "Sorry,"
The whole morning went by as a blur, I was just glad I had the same schedule as Harry and Ron. Excluding divination, I had a free period.
Fred came up to me and grinned "Hows my favorite Black?," He put his hand on my shoulder "You're going to help out right? And sign up for quidditch,"
"Seems like she has no choice now," George laughed putting his arm on my other shoulder.
"Yeah, course. I got a free period during third, where do you wanna meet?," I stood as the Great Hall began to clear and Hermione frowned at me disapprovingly.
"The common room of course," George waved goodbye and disappeared into the crowd.
History of magic was the first class of the day and it went on for what seemed like years despite following along and taking notes. Once the bell rang, I grabbed my notebook and tossed it towards Harry to copy down and left the room with him and Ron so we could make it to Double potions in time.
This was going to be the first encounter back with Snape after we returned to Hogwarts. My emotions were mixed on how to feel because I wasn't quite sure to be excited or nervous considering the mask he displays will only push me farther from him. Light swung in through the nearest window and landed on my arm, slowly preening the hair in between my ear. He looked shaken and his feathers were ruffled down below his legs like he was forced down.
"Light buddy where have you been, what's going on?," I stared closely at him, his eyes were almost empty.
As usual, Harry and Draco were arguing, out in the hallway, drawing more attention then was needed before class. Both Draco and Harry had their hands ready to draw their wands.
"Potter! First day of classes and you've already begun to cause trouble? 10 points from Gryffindor," Snape shouted, his cape billowing as he strutted down the dungeon hall, his lip curling toward the young messy haired boy.
"But sir-," Harry tried to explain, clenching his fists at his sides.
"10 more points for talking back. And Black if you want to address the issue with your pest talking to itself and having most likely girl gossip tied to its leg, don't bother coming into my classroom," His cold onyx eyed met mine and I felt my reality melt.
I was in a hot, dry aired prison like room which was placed below what seemed like some ones home. I could tell this was one of my dreams but I was unsure of why I was seeing it now. I moved around and touched the walls, letting my senses guide me. My body already knew there was a magical barrier that prevented my wandless magic from surging. My whole body was weak and I could feel torn muscles all across my body.
A small notch dipped into the wall, pushing my fingers into the hole, a hard whip like shock threw me back against the cold stone floor, leaving my body immobilized.
The students were filed into the classroom, starting on the potion assigned on the board as Snape and I stared dead into each others eyes, fixed on the meaning of the reoccurring dreams.
He pulled his wand out, and waved it in a elegant motion. From the tip of the wand, a beautiful doe came bursting gracefully, prancing to a stop in front of Snape. My head was all a blur at this moment. His mouth was moving too fast to make anything out, but the patronus slowly shook it's head, collapsed in on itself, forming one shiny ball and headed to the highest tower which held the Headmaster.
"May I, " Snape asked, leaning his head down to Zeusius, who chirped in fear.
"You can speak with him sure, but the letter is mine," I untied the bound scroll from Zeusius' leg and kept it tight in my hand as he fluttered over to Severus.
"Whatever you do, do not open that scroll," Snapes voice was menacing, like a rattle snake ready to strike.
But, I wasn't known as a Black just to have the last name. The knot keeping the letter closed was already slipped off and it slowly fell to my feet.
