okay, i'm going to jump into the scene in iw that made people hate my second marvel husband star-lord. but, first, i have one question.
why are people hating on my man???
i get it, he stopped the avengers from taking off the gauntlet/magical glove by hitting thanos. listen, i was disappointed and i kept thinking "peter, no, what are you doing???"
but, did i hate him? no.
he's been through a lot. his mother died, he had to kill his dad, his father figure died saving him. . . and he finds out the girl he loves is dead because of that purple raisin. (and i doubt she's coming back.)
yes, i think he should have thought about it and done the logical thing.
but, star-lord isn't the, i guess, ideal hero. the gotg steal batteries and are good guys. none of them are like the avengers, where you have a noble captain america.
everyone hates quill for messing up the plan, but let's also go back to civil war.
i love tony stark. but, even he has done foolish things like quill. so, i'm going to match them up with bold and italics.
tony finds out that bucky killed his parents.
quill finds out that thanos killed the girl he loved.
tony is filled with rage.
quill is filled with rage.
tony knows bucky was brainwashed, but that doesn't matter.
quill knows they're trying to get the glove thing off, but that doesn't matter.

yes, i agree, it's different.
but, second point, quill helped save the universe.
go back into infinity war and think about when doctor strange was looking at the outcomes. i'm almost 100% sure that strange knew what star-lord would do and he didn't stop him.
why not? because it was the endgame. everything leading up to strange giving thanos the time stone was part of the endgame.
strange even explained to tonywhy he gave up the stone. "we're in the endgame" or something like that.
so, basically, you can be mad and disappointed about star-lord. but, you don't have to hate him.
