Chapter 2 ☹
I parked my pick-up truck outside school, sighing as I grabbed my torn backpack and swung it over my shoulder. Climbing out, I caught sight of Michael waiting outside the school doors, leaning on the brick wall. I shut the door, locking the truck as I ran a hand through my hair, strolling towards him.
Michael was wearing his raybans over his eyes, his black and white hair messy as usual. As usual, we were both wearing a band tee and our ripped skinny jeans. We were known as the "outcasts" of our school, the punk weirdos, no-one really ever talked to us. It was just me and Michael VS the World, just as we liked it.
"Sup, fluffy." I said, messing his hair up, making him do the same to me.
"Hey babe." He slid his arm around my waist, and we stumbled inside, laughing. Me and Michael made our way to the lockers, being lucky enough to have our two lockers next to each others. We found a friend of ours, Luke, stumbling towards us, books in his arms.
"Can I have some help, please?" He whined, Michael taking the books off him. Luke collapsed to the floor, thanking him.
"You okay, buddy?" I softly kicked his arm, sniggering at his tiredness.
"I was up all night." He mumbled, curling up in a ball, as if he was about to go to sleep. Michael put his books down on the floor and helped Luke up, patting his back.
"Studying?" Michael asked, smirking as Luke continued to yawn and rub his eyes.
"Mhm, if I fail these exams, I don't get a car." He frowned, mimicking the voice of his parents.
"You really want that car don't you." I mumbled, picking up his books again for him, holding them in my arms. Luke tried to take them from me, but I shook my head. He thanked me, leaning his sleepy head on Michaels shoulder.
"Alright, come on then. Or you'll be late for class." Michael chuckled, nudging Luke awake. "Did you even get any sleep?" He asked as we started walking down the corridor to Maths, our first class.
"Like.. two hours." Luke opened his eyes wider now, trying to stay awake.
"Well try not to fall asleep in class." Michael laughed, shoving Luke in first, us walking in late as usual.
"Clifford, Hemmings, Rydell, explain why you're late?" Our maths teacher, Mr Owens asked us, barely looking up from his desk.
"Luke dropped his books." Michael smirked, as we walked to the back of the class, taking our seats.
"Sir," Mr Owens added, shaking his head. "You're lucky I'm in a good mood." He then stood up, and began to write something on the board.
"Good mood? Is he ever?" I muttered, nudging Luke as he yawned. "Stay awake." I simply said, doodling in my book as usual.
The rest of the day flew by quickly, and it soon turned 3 o'clock. The school bell rang, and everyone in the class shot up and practically ran out of class. Me and Luke, Michael not being in this class, shuffled out of Science last. I had his arm around my shoulder, and I was practically dragging him out of class.
"Wait till you get home, then you can sleep." I reassured him, patting his back as Michael came into sight down the hall.
"How you holding up?" He smirked, ruffling Luke's blonde hair. He grumbled back, rubbing his eyes, before leaning onto Michael.
"Come on, I'll drop you off." I said, putting my backpack over my shoulder. Michael nodded, helping Luke out, with me following.
As we exited the double doors, Luke dropped his books, Michael asking me to pick them up for him, as his hands were kind of full. I nodded, bending over to pick up the few books. Someone ran into my back, causing me to topple over, dropping the textbooks I had in my hands. Landing on my face, I gave a groan of pain.
"Not so tough without your boyfriend, are ya?" The popular boy, Ashton smirked, towering over me. I rolled my eyes, getting up off the floor. I muttered something incoherent, Ashton chuckling to his friends, asking for me to speak up.
"I said fuck you." I shouted at him, kicking my foot inbetween his legs where the sun doesn't shine. Ashton fell to the side, holding his crotch. I smirked, picking the books up again and I walked back to my pick-up truck, Michael leaning against it, grinning at me.
"Nice one, I saw what you did. You okay though? I'll beat that punk up if he touches you again." Michael said, sounding more stern towards the end. I nodded and smiled, climbing into my truck. Passing the books back to Luke in the backseat, I noticed he was already asleep. I sighed, putting the books by his head. Michael sat in the passenger seat, buckling himself in before shutting the door.
I started the car, reversing out the parking lot. We passed Ashton and his dickheads of friends, waving out the window sarcastically at him. "Not so tough now, are ya?" Michael mimicked, shouting out the open window, followed by a laugh.
Me and him knuckle-touched, grinning.
