Paisley's POV

"What the hell do you want?" I snap, trying to hold the tears back. he looks shocked my my outburst, but soon recovers with a worried look in his eyes.
"I wanna know why the hell you ran out of there." he says, releasing my arm.
I turn away from him and rake my hands through my hair while letting out a frustrated sigh.
"It's complicated." I say, trying to avoid the subject. There's a moment of silence where I think he left me alone.
"Try me." He says calmly. I sigh angrily and turn back around to face him.
"I don't want to." I say, slowly getting closer. "I don't want the asshole player to understand my problems. All I want is to continue on with this dinner and get it over with so you can go back to your house and we never have to interact again." By this point, we are inches away from coming in contact with each other.
Through the middle of my rant, worry flew from his eyes and was replaced with amusement and frustration.
"First of all princess, I'm not some asshole player, okay? I have feelings too." He says angrily. He's slowly taking steps towards me , making me back up every time he takes a step.
"Second of all," He says, stopping his feet from moving any closer. "I don't want this dinner to be the last time we talk. I don't want that." The look in his eyes as he towers over me is a mixture of sincerity, worry, and an unknown emotion that I have never seen being directed to me.
I don't want that either. I think. I want to say that, but I guess my mouth has a mind of its own.
"I do." I say, not even thinking. I side-step around him and quickly walk back into the house.
Why do I have to be here, I think. Why couldn't Steph be here too? I don't know why I'm thinking that because I already know the answer: She's mommy's little Stephie. She can do whatever she wants.
Once I get back into the kitchen, the adults are in their own world talking about golf. I take my seat and overhear mother trying to get involved in the deep conversation.
"Me and my husband go golfing all the time. We even bring my daughter, Steph with us too!" She says. Trevor comes back in and takes his seat next to me, slightly smelling like cigarette smoke. Her words and his presents make me angry and I can't seem to stop my mouth before the words poor out of my mouth.
"Mom, you've never been golfing. You hate it," I say, feeling the grin want to slide on my face by the look of shock and dissapointment on Trevor's parents' faces, but I resist the urge. "And where is Stephanie?" I question, using my sisters' real name, which mother and Steph hate.
Anger flames through my mothers eyes as she keeps her pleasant look on her face. "She's at her friend, Jamie's house with a bunch of girlfriends." She hisses. Here comes the truth. I think.
"Are you sure Jamie's not a girl and they're doing more than-"
"Paisley," My mother interrupts while Trevor tries to stifle his laugh.. "I don't think I need parenting advice from you." Anger tears through her eyes, whipping her pleasant look off of her face. I put my hands up in defence as look into my mothers' raging eyes.
"Whatever you say." I put my hands back down as there is an awkward silence. After a few minutes, Mr. Jacobs speasks up.
"Well, thank you for dinner," He says, slowly standing up and nodding towards my mother. "And pleasure meeting you," He politely smiles at me while sending me a wink. "But I think we must go. I have to pack and get ready for a business trip with your father." He says looking between me and my mother. Penny stands up and gives a silent demand to Trevor to stand up. He does and they all walk towards the door. My mother stands up and follows them to the door.
I silently get up out of my seat and quickly descend up the stairs to my room. Once I'm at the top of the stairs, I take a look behind me to see if my mother is watching but meet the blue-green eyes of Trevor, playfulness filling in the beautiful ocean that are his eyes. He grins at me and slightly shakes his head. I scurry in my room, shut the door, and slide down it to land on my butt with a silly smile on my face.

"Paisley! Down here! NOW!" My mother screeches from downstairs. I shut my computer down and walk downstairs in my short jean shorts and white DanceMoms T-shirt I got from a visitation I went to with Stacy.
"Yeah mom?" I ask once I get to the kitchen. Mother is sitting at the table with an empty wine glass. She looks up at me with smoke practically coming out of her ears and bloodshot eyes.
"How could you embarrass me like that?" she says forcefully. "You ruined that dinner yesterday the second you came down in that awful outfit you had on!"
I bet my facial expression is priceless and full of fear and confusion.
"W-wha-"
"You ruined the dinner when you walked out at all!" She screams, standing up out of her seat. "Hell, you ruined this family when we adopted you! We should've just let your starve to fucking death down there!" Tears have started to form in my eyes and I stutter for something to say.
"M-mother I-I'm sor-"
"And how dare you say those awful things about your older sister!" She starts walking closer as I start to back away every step she takes.
Anger replaces my hurt and smoke starts coming from my ears.
"Because they aren't lies! They're true." I say. Mothers face gets even more red with anger as she stares at me with disbelief. "Just ask Steph!"
Suddenly the kitchen door opens and Steph walks in holding her phone.
"Ask me what?" She asks mother sweetly. I mentally roll my eyes as I turn around to face my sister.
"What were you doing last night?" I ask. Her eyes grow wide with fear as she shakes her head.
"I-I was at my fr-friend Jamie's house. W-why?" She says nervously looking between me and mother.
"Because she was telling lies about you, Stephanie! Horrible, horrible lies!" Mother shouts sympathetically.
Steph's eyes suddenly start to tear up as she gasps in fake surprise.
"How could you say that about me, sister? How could you lie like that?!" She fake sobs. I scoff.
"Oh please! She has fucked EVERY SINGLE guy in town! Even one if dad's business partners!" I shout, looking down on Steph.
2 years ago when Steph was 17, I caught her sneaking in the house once at 4 in the morning and wouldn't stop questioning where she was. She said that she had a rough day and went to work to find dad. She couldn't find him so on her way to the elevator, she ran into one of dad's business partners--and his best friend from high school-- and ended up sleeping with him.
This was when she actually told me things.
Suddenly, a hand came in contact with my cheek, knocking me to the ground. I look up to see my mother with a bothered look on her face and her hand slowly turning red by her side.
"Don't you ever say things like that again!" She shouts, pointing at me. I drag myself off the ground, tears flowing from my eyes, and run out the kitchen, out the front door, and into the pouring rain. When did it start raining? I think.
My feet take off running before my mind can stop them and run to the first place I think of.
