Promise Me: A PDH AU

The mall

We went to Macy's and GameStop. We ended up going everywhere we could. Walking through the mall with dozens of shopping bags. It felt good to get out and have fun. We put the bags in Zane's car then went to the arcade. Of course, I aced Zane at racing. Dominated him at Skee Ball. And scored the highest points in Pac-Man. Now that was fun!

Zane Ro'Meave....

I was having fun with Zane Ro'Meave.

Honestly, I never thought that would happen. Having fun with the kid named Zane Ro'Meave. My thoughts were interrupted.

"Wanna play another round of 'Who can drive faster and ignore all laws'?" Zane asked. I giggled, causing him to smile.

"Sure, homeboy." I don't know why I called Zane, homeboy, but it just seemed right. We went and played a couple more racing games and I won 2, he only got me the last round.

"And.....I WIN!!!" Zane basically shouted. I started laughing at his reaction.

"Zane! You're sooooo loud!" I said and he got quiet.

"Oops...." He said and we busted out in laughter.

Long story short, we got kicked out of the arcade for being 'too loud'. Me and Zane couldn't stop laughing. Heh, this is the most fun I have ever had with Zane.

"If was really nice to hang out with you Zane. I never knew you could be so fun to play around with." I said while we walked towards the food court.

"Same. We've never really talked before, and I think you're a whole new person. I like this side of you. A lot." His comment made me blush.

"Awww! Thanks Zane. You're so sweet..." I gave him a hug and he hugged back.

We ended up at Starbucks with a Double Carmel Frappè and a (f/s/d). I never knew that Zane liked Caramel frappè's. He'd always get straight black coffee, 'like his soul'...

"I mean it, y/n, I really enjoyed this day.." Zane's voice was pure and strong. Something I could trust.

"Me too. It was a very nice day. Thank you." I said to him. It was like he mentally face-palmed.

"Yeah....you're welcome..." He said, there was a sliver of disappointment in his tone. Had I missed something?

     Let's see. We went to a bunch of stores and he wouldn't let me buy anything, so he bought me everything. We talked and joked, played multiple games together and got coffee. Nah, there's nothing I could've missed. Right?
     I let the thought's slip from my mind when Zane offered me his hand. I took it and we went to his car. Gene and his friends were waiting. They were enjoying the radio music and didn't seem bothered by the wait. They did their thing while we had done ours in the mall...
