Joy's P.O.V.
When we get home, I bolt to my room and lock the door. They were there. How could they already find me? This can't be happening. If only Lexi were here. I need comfort, but it's just plain awkward with Hayes and Nash. I would go to Skylynn, but she's so little and probably wouldn't understand.
Tears stream down my face, as I grab something from my bag. It scratches my fingers as I carry it to the bathroom. The bathroom door is locked, so nobody can get in. I release small and quietly cries, as I drag the razor over my left arm.
Once I've cut, I can't stop. I've done this various times. It starts with one cut, then another, and another. Next thing you know, your whole arm is cut up. Crimson droplets of blood drip down my arms.
Suddenly, I'm startled by a knock on the door. I open the bathroom cabinet below the sink and hide the razor. A small washcloth is sitting on the sink, so I use that to wipe my arms and then hide it as well.
"Joy, are you in there?" sounds like Hayes.
Crap.
I popes the door and try to walk right past him, but he grabs my arm. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, what are these?" he holds up my arm.
"None of your business." I pull my a back. His electrifying eyes gaze into mine.
"Were you cutting yourself?"
"No," I lie.
"Joy," he raises his tone and furrows his brow. "Please don't hurt yourself again.".
"Fine...." trailing off, I notice something different about Hayes. He doesn't have a cheerful look that he always has. If anything, he looks depressed.
"Good. Let's go downstairs." We head down to sit down on the couch. Skylynn comes and sits down next to me.
"Hayes, you promised that you'd watch Frozen today." she giggles. It's seems like no matter how hard they try to brush it, her hair stays a mess.
"Oh right," he frowns. Hayes puts in the DVD and starts the movie. Skylynn jumps up and down in the couch chanting," Yay, yay, yay!".
Ten minuets into the movie, I fall asleep.
________
Our foster mom picks up the pan out of the sink. "Please don't do this," Lexi cries.
Mom pulls back her arm and takes a big swing at Lexi's head. "No!" I scream, tears running down my cheeks.
"Shut the fuck up, or I'll hit you as well!" she screams. The more I struggle to move, the tighter the ropes get. "Stop moving!" she whacks me as well.
Clutching her golden locks, she drags Lexi into the backyard. Through the kitchen window, I see everything. Mom pulls out a lighter and presses it to Lexi's cheek. Horrifying screams come from my backyard, as Lexi screams for help.
"No! Lexi!" I cry as loud as possible. Mom turns and shoots me a deadly glare before storming into the house.
"This is what you get for being such a horrible child!" she presses the lighter to the back of my head. Pain seeps through my skull and inches down my whole body. Loud cries are released from my throat, as I see some hair fall to the ground.
All of a sudden, Lexi comes up and punches our foster mom in the back of the head. "Lexi!" I weep, noticing her flesh melting off her cheek.
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine. You need to go hide in the basement, now!" she untied the ropes from my arms and legs.
"I can't leave you!"
"Go!" she orders. I follow my command and sprint towards the basement. Locking the door behind me, I hide in the darkest corner and cry.
Loud muffles of pounding and screaming come from outside the basement. Weeping on the floor, my body curls together rocking back and forth.
_________
I wake up in the guest room, sweaty and out of breath. My heart leaps out of my chest and my throat feels hoarse. That was more of a flashback then a dream. That was the last time I ever saw or heard from Lexi.
A small knock is heard at my door. I open it and find Hayes. "Hi Hayes, why are you here?".
"Well, I heard thrashing coming from the room. And then I heard you screaming no in your sleep. So I came to see if your okay."
"Oh, I'm fine. I just had a nightmare." it was a nightmare alright, a nightmare that was real.
For those of you who know, I'm taking a break from Fighter and focusing on this story. More updates soon!
