Joy's P.O.V.

"Joy!" I hear Nash scream from down stairs. I set down the horse doll that Skylynn had me use and run down the stairs.

"What's wrong?" in the room, I notice that Hayes is laying on the ground with his head resting on Nash's knees, unconscious. "Oh my god!" I scream.

"Call an ambulance, now!" He orders. I make the call and go grab Skylynn.

"Where are we going?" she asks, as I bring her downstairs. Nash stands up and picks up Skylynn.

"I will drive with Sky to the hospital, do you mind riding in the ambulance with Hayes?"

"Not at all," I kneel down next to Hayes and grab his hand. The ambulance arrived, and paramedics carry Hayes into the back of the ambulance.

"Only family members can ride in the ambulance," a man assures me.

"I'm his, step sister." he nods and I climb into the ambulance next to Hayes.

"It's gonna be okay," I whisper, as I softly rustle the top of his hair. When we arrive at the hospital, they roll him into a surgery room. Nash shows up with Sky fifteen minutes later. The look on his face tells me that something's up.

I notice that tears are filling his eyes when we come face to face. As he bites down on his lip, he holds back tears. Finally, he let's go and bursts into tears.

"Nash," I kneel down by his side as he sinks to the ground," It's gonna be okay.".

"You can't prove that!" he snaps, making me jump.

"I know I can't, but I have a strong feeling that everything will be okay." I say while he sobs into my shoulder.

Nash stops crying, and looks into my eyes. His eyes are red from crying, and his throat sounds scratchy.

"Can I ask you a question?" he disrupts the silence that's been created mysteriously.

"Of course," I trail of, knowing in gonna regret this. But what am I supposed to say, no you can't ask me a question?

"Do you feel safer when your around Hayes? And I mean safer, as in when he's in the room a huge weight is lifted off your shoulders?" my throat clogs and my stomach drops to the floor. I feel like I just dry swallowed a pill.

"Uh, well I'm not sure. I feel safe around your whole family I guess. I mean you guys took me in when I was alone on the street."

"I mean just Hayes, cause I noticed you slept in his room the other night."

"I guess so. He's just very nice to me and protects me I guess." I scratch my neck.

"Do you like him?" Nash smiles and wiggles his eyebrows up and down.

"No," I say quickly, avoiding even thinking about liking Hayes. I can't like him, and he can't like me. I'm a bomb that ready to explode, and he needs to stay away from me. I'm gonna wreck his world, I just know it.
