Hayes P.O.V.
I wake up to a heart monitor beeping in my ear. Dimmed lights spread along the roof, shining quite bright in my eyes. Taking my eyes off of the roof, I see a figure waiting on the opposite side of the bed. I feel my arm, and my fingers brush against a patch and wires. The tip of my left pointer finger has a clamp like object attached to it. "What's going on?" I mumble drowsily. My vision starts to some what recover and everything becomes a tad less blurry. That's when I notice, the figure is Nash. He trudges towards me. The second we make eye contact, I notice how bloodshot his eyes are. Has he been crying?
"Nash?" I question, slurring my words like some crazy drunk. Without any words, he pulls me into a tight hug. I hear a sigh of relief come deep from the back of his throat.
"I thought you were dead," he starts to cry. What's going on? I'm so confused. "You were gone, you slipped from my grasp. I broke my promise." he cries on my shoulder, sill not releasing from our hug.
"What promise?" my voice is now completely hoarse.
"Mom and Dad's promise."
"They had a promise?" I ask.
"Before they-" he stops and looks down at the ground.
"Before they what? Nash, what are you hiding from me?" my voice raises and I sit up. That's when Joy walks in with Sky.
"Hayes!" Sky runs over to me and crawls into my arms. "Are you feeling better?" she pokes at my forehead.
"Much, but I still don't know what happened."
"Your left lung collapsed from falling over to much at the ice rink." the doctor says while walking in.
"That's why my left side hurt really bad? I thought it was just a bruise or something like that." I kinda chuckle at my clumsiness.
Joy comes up and hugs me. "I'm so glad your okay." she smiles. Her eyes sparkle, and her cute dimples show when she smiles at me. But ever so slowly, her smile fades away.
"Something wrong?"
"Didn't Nash tell you?" she glares at him. Tell me what? What are they hiding from me?
"Hayes," Nash releases a loud breath and stares at the ground," Mom and Dad made me keep a promise that I'd protect you and Sky. And I found out this morning that-" he stops.
"That what!"
"That.....they died in a plane crash." Tears start to pour from his eyes. My heart drops to my stomach and shatters into a million pieces. No, this can't be happening! It's all a dream! It's not real! This is just a dream! I burry my face into a pillow and start to sob.
They're gone! I never got to say goodbye! Nash comes close and cries with me, and so does Sky. The room is dead silent, despite out crying.
Why must this happen to us? I stop crying and pick my head up. But didn't Mom and Dad say something about it being their last flight forever? Maybe this means something.
"Nash, I think Mom and Dad knew they were gonna die......."
WHAT?! Reactions?
