Chantelle's POV.
Today was the day of the party and I was afraid of the events that were going to take place as the day went on.
I still kept my word about not going to the party but I didn't tell the others, except for Lauren. My parents had went out to this meeting for work and Donte and I were watching some tv. Donte was waiting for his friend to come pick him up so that they can have a sleepover.
"Aye, Chan. You're not going to that party tonight?" Donte asked, keeping his eyes on the television.
"What? How do you know about the party?"
"People at my school have been talking about it." he told me. What? Donte was only in middle school and he already knew about parties and all hat crazy stuff.
"Boy, you are way too young to know about parties like this. And no, I'm not going."
"Wow, you're so boring." he shook his head.
I was not boring! "No I'm not!"
"Yes, you are. I'm already tired of this conversation."
"No, I'm not."
"You are."
"Prove it then."
"You never go anywhere. You always stay with the same group of friends. I heard that everyone is invited to that party and here you are watching television. How do you live with yourself?" he questioned while looking at me.
I scrunched my face up. Yes, maybe some parts of what he way saying was true, but it still didn't make me change my mind. "I'm still not going, so you can say whatever you want." There was a honk outside.
"That's my friend. I'll see ya later." Donte said as he got up and walked out to the front door, exiting the house with his overnight bag in hand.
Stupid boy. He thought that whatever he just said to me would've made me change my mind. It really didn't make a difference at all. My phone beeped. I had recieved a message from Ray.
Ray: i'm coming over to your house.
Chantelle: why?
Ray: to check up on you before the party.
Chantelle: okay, come ovr.
Ray: open up the door.
I looked out the window to see Ray's car parked in front of my house and Ray standing on the porch. He must've been planning to come over. I got off my couch and went to go unlock the door for him.
"Hey, Ray." I said as he entered the house.
"Why aren't you dressed?" he asked.
"You thought I was kidding when I said I wasn't going?" I answered while closing the door. "Don't go to that party, Ray. I'm telling you. Don't go." I told him as I ran my hands through my hair.
Ray turned towards me and scoffed. "I'm going, Chantelle. You can't tell me what to do." he rolled his eyes.
"Something bad is going to happen. I can feel it. Please, just don't go." I pleaded. Ray shook his head and chuckled.
"Chantelle, Chantelle, Chantelle. You're still trying to control me. It's not that hard to understand. I'm still going to that party! This is my life! You can't boss me around."
