June 19, 2003 a baby girl was born. She was not given a name by her parents because her parents saw her eyes and they put her up for adoption. Not more than 48 hours later she was adopted by a new family who loved her eyes. They named her Sam to represent the child they recently miscarried only a month earlier, his name was Sam so they thought they could "replace" him. They were good people, just not good mindsets. The mother was bipolar and struggling because of her miscarriage. She had blond hair with green tips and brown eyes and two piercings, one on her nose and one on her brow. The father had no mental "issues" but did have an anger issue, he was a brunette with green eyes and freckles. They loved each other very much but they were struggling in the later years with Sam.
~5 years pass~
They understood by that point that she was colorblind but they didn't want to accept it. Sam was now 5 and was now going to school. Her parents didn't want her to go to school but knew she had to. They relaxed when she was at school but her side of the story is a bit different.
"What color is this? Anyone? Sam?" Said their teacher. "Grey." Sam replied. "No Sam, this is the color blue. Stop playing around.". "But Mrs. Ofwen,
I'm not joking" Sam said calmly "that really looks like grey." And everyone laughed. She didn't understand what was happening. Her whole life was black and white and every mix of those together so she didn't understand. They went out to the playground after lunch for recess. Sam tried o make friends but she was very anxious around others. On the 53 day of school a girl named Katleen came up to her. "Hi! Are you new here?" Said Katleen. "N-no... I-I've been here all year?" Sam replied. "Then why isn't anyone talking to you?". Sam gave a confused look and then Katleen continued "I've only been here for a day but everyone is so nice and no one is talking to..." and she looks back. Everyone was starring at her like she was a monster. Sam stood up and said "I-I'm sorry... they'll hate you now b-because of me...". Katleen looked at Sam and said "well...I'm Katleen. Want to be friends?" "F-friends? Everyone will h-hate you." Katleen looked at Sam and smiled "I don't care" Sam just smiled back and said "you're my first friend...". Katleen kinda got sad at this remark "I'm sure everyone is just being mean. Oh! My friends call me Kat! My class is leaving!! Bye Sam!!!" "Bye". They found each other after school and just talked like the little kids they were. Then both their parents came and for the first time, Sam received a hug from someone other than her parents. She was amazed. Sam and Kat both went home and told their parents everything and Kay's parents wanted to know if Sam wanted to have a play date. Of course, she did so they planned it for that Saturday. It was fun that Saturday, they played in the pool and ate snacks and watched movies and then Kay's parents texted Sam's parents asking if Sam could spend the night. They said she could but needed to be home by noon, which Mr and Mrs O'Rian were ok with. So Sam spent the night and she had so much fun and they kept talking and talking and eventually they passed out. Sam woke up around 7am like she usually did and saw color. She saw color and she didn't know how. Kat was the only thing that had color but it was still color and Sam was so excited. So she waited patiently for another 2 hours for Kat to wake up. She told Kat the news and they hugged and jumped and played more until noon. This was the beginning to something Sam couldn't predict.
