"Hey Inkling Girl!" Before she had time to react, she was hit with a spray of paint and dispersed into the air. A raucous laugh echoed in the air. A blue-headed boy, resembling a squid slightly jumped down, holding his E-Litre 3000. "Get good, squid."

The Squid Girl formed again at the teleporter. Immediately changing to squid form, she swam through her colour paint towards the Squid Boy. She appeared from the paint, like a phoenix, into her inkling form, lifting up her Roller. "I already did." A voice said behind him. As he turned around, he was met with a roller held high in the air. A ton of rocks was falling and he shielded himself for cover, knowing there was no way to escape. A loud siren noise saved his hind. He opened his eyes and the roller was an inch from his face. He fell to the floor in the paint, wiping it away from his face.

"Well, that's the match over. As usual, you win." He grinned, his bare sharp teeth showing with his ear-to-ear smile. The Squid Girl tossed the roller to the side, it disappearing into the paint. She held a hand for him. He reached out, grabbed her wrist and pulled himself off. "I wonder how Pearl and Marina are doing." Squid Boy said, adjusting his goggles on his eyes.

"MAIL!" A letter appeared right in front of his face and Squid Boy fell down to the floor. Squid Girl started laughing, pointing her finger at him.

"Don't tell me," She wheezed. "You got scared of that." She grabbed the letter, which was delivered by the hook of a fishing rod. The fishing rod was reeled back, onto its next delivery. The letter was addressed to them both, and it was sealed by a red wax seal on the back, engraved with a tqo lines intersecting each other. The Squid Girl began opening the letter. The Squid Boy got himself back on the floor, dusting his pants and adjusting his goggles, again. The Squid Girl squinted hard at the letter, humming to herself. She turned the paper around and around.

"What are you doing? Do you not know how to read?" The Squid Boy remarked. She squinted hard, as if she was trying to figure out the last word of a crossword puzzle. The Squid Boy was getting visibly impatient, folding his arms and tapping his foot, faster and faster. "FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE." He snatched the paper from her hands and looked at it. What he was expecting, a letter of writing, was actually a drawing of a ball with two lines intersecting each other.

"Well Einstein, what do you think?" Squid Girl asked, very annoyed. The Squid Boy mumbled something to himself. He turned around to her, showing her the letter. He pointed at the drawing.

"I've seen this symbol somewhere..." He said. "One of my friends was talking about this. He said they were looking for new recruits or something." He looked at the letter again. "Does this mean we've been chosen to go?" He asked, lightly jumping up and down.

"Maybe. We should report to Pearl and Marina about this. Maybe they know more about it." The Squid Girl said. The Squid Boy nodded in agreement. Squid Girl looked behind the Squid Boy. "Hey, did you happen to drop a rose behind you?" Squid Boy looked back and down on the floor. In the midst of the pain, a rose lay on the floor. Two petals lay on the floor.

"No? It wasn't there before... We don't even have those here in Inkopolis."  The Squid Boy walked over to it. He stood over the rose. Faint crackles of colour sparked out of it and he jumped back. He decided leaving it alone would be the best option. "Let's get going. I'm sure the dwellers above dropped it by accident or something," And they both ran off, in search of Pearl and Marina for answers.

The rose that was left by them, began emitting a dark aura from it. Roots began spreading from it, ingraining into the ground. The paint of the turf that was left behind from their battle, began to change to a ghastly colour of white.
