It's been several months since the incident, I have recovered some sanity, it's what my doctor has been telling me, but I haven't recovered at all. I can still see that horrible scene of my father's corpse lying there on the living room floor with his eyes sticking out of their sockets looking right at me.
I still can't believe that the judge didn't believe me... I swear that I didn't kill my father, I was nowhere near him since that day. They were going to sentence me to two weeks in prison, but the Happy Land Asylum took me in. Happy Land Asylum is a children's only Asylum, the place was created by Dr. Carolus and he is the only doctor in that place accompanied by other Nurses in the Asylum.
I live here where "people like me" stay, but I ain't gonna lie it's better here than living with my father. Getting beaten every day by him, no matter what I did or what I say, he would whack me with his bare fists until I stopped moving to leave me unconscious on the floor. I hated my father, he was an alcoholic, he would boss me around.
Still, I wouldn't have wished death upon him. I mean he did give me a roof above my head, and a cozy bed to sleep in. Though, he was sort of manipulated and did things that no father should do to their daughters. Damn, I do hate when my brain is scrambled with what's right and wrong.
The way I reacted when I saw the corpse, I didn't scream or cry. I didn't feel sympathy for him not even a little. I wouldn't fake my sorrow. I rather get thrown away in prison then grieve for this selfish man that I used to call my father. The more I think about him, The more I wished that in his final breath he could've at least apologized to me or tell me how much he loved me as a daughter!
No, I shouldn't be thinking about him.
I hear a knock at my door which made my thoughts of my father and my anger fade away.
"Abigale It's time for supper. I'll be escorting you to the cafeteria."
"I'll be out in a minute," I said.
Every kid in the Asylum must be escorted by a nurse, Due to the lack of patients going missing on the Asylum, Dr.carouls has told the nurse that from now on they should escort all the patients to their rooms, outside activities, and the bathroom. It gets annoying at times when you have a stranger following you especially in the bathroom, but I try to pretend that I'm a princess and the nurses are my ladies in waiting.
I put on my socks and walk out the door and see a nurse. If I can remember I think her name is Penny or is it Cassé? Cassé sounds about right. Cassé was a beautiful lady. She was the youngest out of all the other nurses. Cassé wore a white uniform, beautiful short blonde hair, icy blue eyes, and pale skin. She was the only nurse I can remember out of the other old hags in this building.
"Time to go Abi." Cassé said with a warm smile on her face.
"Yes ma'am" I said. We both walk down the white long boring hallway filled with other Nurses. I was starting to get sleepy, and there was nothing else I could do but start up a conversation with Cassé. It was either that or start sleepwalking.
"Cassé do you love working here?" I asked.
"Of course I do I get to take care of kids and protect you from danger," she said.
From what I’ve heard from the other patients here, and all the bulletin boards with old notes, that haven't been taken down, written a couple of years ago with her name on them. It seems like she has been working here for a sustained amount of time. She has always been taking care of children. That could explain why she hasn't left this job, and always taking care of children so much, just like a mother would take care of their children, I think. Shoot I stopped talking to Cassé, I oughta think of something! "Cassé!, do you like the other nurse?" I asked. "hm, to be honest, I don't like my partners, they don't know how to take care of children." she said.
Cassé isn't like the other nurses, the nurses would threaten to take us to the check-up room of doom. it is said to be a check-up room for disobedient children. They go in and never come back out. Some say that it's a cruel joke to get us under control but, I believe in the checkup room of doom. I’ve heard blood-curdling screams coming from that room and every time I look out my door there would be a shine of blue light flickering non-stop from that room. I always wanted to get a little peek in that room just to see what was going on in there. I would ask Cassé about the room but I don't dare to do so.
“Abigail?” Cassé said. “Y-yes ma'am?” I answered quickly knowing that I’ve spaced out.
“We’re here,” she said.
After all that walking, we finally made it to the cafeteria, I guess my idea of starting a long conversation has failed again, Damn...
"well go ahead and enjoy your lunch, I'll be back to escort you back to your room." Cassé said with a warm smile.
"Yes ma'am," I said. As I watched her walk away until she was out of my sight, I face the door and entered the cafeteria.
