-Next Day-
-Florida Keys-
We were at our vacation house in the Florida Keys. I couldn’t be happier, it was so relaxing. Derek is having a good time which is good. I still haven’t talked to him about what Riker told me. I didn’t know what to say. I was chilling in the recording studio we had in the house. My dad came in,
“You’ve always loved being in the studio, even before you knew what you were doing.”
I smiled at him,
“I like it, it’s an amazing feeling. I feel so special in here.”
He sat down next to me,
“Sing me something.”
I giggled, I grabbed my guitar and started singing a song that I wrote about my dad. I finished, he was grinning ear to ear.
“You have such a beautiful voice.”
“Thanks daddy.”
“I’m so glad you followed your dreams and became the star you always wanted to be.”
“I still got a long ways to go.”
“But you’ll make it. You’re album exploded on the charts. All the videos of covers and collabs got so much attention. Everyone loves you; you’ll see what I’m talking about in a couple of days when you get on that stage in front of a sold out crowd at the Staples Center.”
“Oh the butterflies are real.”
“I’m proud of you cupcake!”
“Thank you daddy. I love you.”
“I love you too!”
He kissed my forehead and walked out. I strummed on my guitar for a little while. I heard Derek say hi and sit down by me; he put his arm around me. I smiled,
“Hey pop star, how’re you?”
“Pretty good, just beat your whole family in a game of PIG.”
I laughed,
“Well good job!”
“Thanks! What are you up too?”
“Nothing much, just goofing around in the studio.”
“Of course you are.”
I laughed,
“Well I like it in here.”
“I know, that’s why I always look in a studio first.”
I giggled a bit.
“Hey Derek, can I ask you a question?”
“Of course you can babe.”
“Is there something I don’t know about how Darcy and Mia died?”
He sighed and looked away.
“Derek, I’m being serious.”
“I know you are. I’m assuming Riker or your brother already told you.”
