Have I told you how much I love Sav and Lachy? They are the cutest, sweetest, best couple in the entire school. This morning, at school, when I was waiting for Savannah to grab her books out of her locker as I usually get to school quite early, Lachy asked Savannah to the formal and it was so cute I swear my heart was going to melt. Hopefully, formal distracts Savannah from whatever is making her upset and keeping her up at night, because she seemed quite sad and tired before Lachy arrived.
After the cutest formal proposal in the world, Savannah and I walked to class and suffered the greasy’s from Bri and Nat, who seemed to now be ignoring us, probably for some convoluted reason they had cooked up in those heads of theirs. Once we had sat down in our seats, my phone began to buzz, meaning I had gotten a text from someone. As soon as Mr Haze had wandered to the very front of the room, I checked it slyly.
Seb: Haven’t seen u in ages L catch up tonight? Xx
Hailey: yess let’s! want to come over? X
Seb: C u at 8?
Hailey: see you then
I settled back in my chair, glad now that I had something to do this afternoon, seeing as tennis was cancelled. Savannah looked up from her perfect maths workbook to lean over and say to me, “Who was that Hailey?”
“Just Seb, he’s coming over tonight,” I replied.
‘Ohhh that’ll be fun,” she replied quite cheekily.
“What’s that supposed to mean?’ I raised my eyebrows at her
“Nothing!” she answered quickly.
That was weird, I wonder what she meant. Unfortunately for Savannah and I, we had bigger things to worry about, like whatever problem Nat and Bri had with us. They have been bitching about us to everyone all the time and honestly, I can’t stand it when they don’t just confront us about whatever problem they have. They’re probably just jealous of Savannah or something. It’s so irritating and honestly it does nothing for them.
When we walked out of class, we went to sit with them at our usual spot for lunch. It became quite apparent though that they no longer wanted to talk to us once they turned around and started talking about their newest obsession. Savannah and I exchanged looks and with puzzled expressions we went to find Pip.
Pip was sitting under the big tree next to the canteen and we went and sat with her. When she saw us, she jumped up excitedly and grabbed Savannah.
“Oh my god! Oh my god! Jakey asked me to formal and you and I can go together! It’s gonna be so much fun holy shit!” she screamed.
“Yes! Ahh that’s amazing oh my god! Eek!” Savannah yelled excitedly.
While I was really happy for both of them, I wished I was going too or that there was a guy who liked me that much. ‘Oh well’, I thought to myself, ‘it’s just not the right time I guess.’
After school finished, I saw Nat and Bri talking to Savannah and so I walked over to her to see what was happening. The two stormed away and I went to speak to her.
“What happened then?” I asked, “Are you okay?”
Savannah seemed rattled, and she told me what they had said to her, ‘stop being so self-obsessed and bragging about your boyfriend.”
“That’s awful! You’re not at all self-obsessed, they’re just jealous! I replied. It’s so unfair how rude they are to Savannah, they never seem to give her a break or stop bitching about her these days.
I said my goodbyes and then walked home, because Charlotte had musical and Angus had swimming. The walk was boring and lonely, and I really missed being in Angus’s car with him and Charlotte. When I reached my house, I let myself in and grabbed a snack from the kitchen before going and getting changed.
When I went and sat down in the living room there was the sound of my doorbell and I got up to let Seb in. We hung out for a bit, caught up on what was going on with our lives and ate lots of the chocolate he brought me. Then we went and watched Spiderman on the couch, and I’ll admit, there was quite a bit of touch and feel during that movie and I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it. He traced his fingers lazily over my body giving me warm and tingly sensation. I had my head nuzzled into his shoulder and smelt the sweet scent of his Calvin Klein cologne. I don’t know what to say about Seb and I’s relationship, it’s confusing and I’m not sure where we are heading. At the end of the movie, he said he had to go quite hesitantly. We bid each other goodbye and he left shortly after. I was hoping that the night would end a little bit more interestingly. I was actually disappointed. This was so unlike me, I never would look for something between Seb and I, but I swear something was happening between us. I strolled back to the kitchen and began preparing some tea. I wrapped my cool hands around the warm cup of English breakfast Tea and flopped onto the coach. The house was silent and the sense of loneliness crept up on me. My parents have never been away for so long before.
I was startled to hear a knock coming from down the hall. I was frightened. Why anyone would be looking for me at this time. I tiptoed over to see through the peep hole. To my surprise it was Seb standing there. I was relieved. Seb stood there looking dishevelled. I swung the door open timidly.
“Hailey,” he stutters, “will you come to formal with me? Please?” He cautiously waits for my answer. He looked worried that I was going to say no.
“Wait, what?” I laughed, “Of course I’ll go to the formal with you silly!” His expression changed. He smiled and gave me a big hug. He was beaming with pride and that made me equally as happy.
I was on top of the world; I couldn’t wait to tell Savannah and Pip. I called Savannah to tell her the good news and she squealed into the phone.
‘I can’t wait! This is going to be the best!! You, Pip and I will have a blast!” She said excitedly.
We spoke a bit more about school, and Bri and Nat, but then she had to look after her younger brother so we hung up. I spent the rest of the night texting Seb and doing work and I was in such a good mood. Mum and Dad called finally and said they were in a remote country and probably wouldn’t be able to call very often anymore. I was going to remind them that this was only the third time I’d heard from them since they left, so it’s likely they wouldn’t be any less frequent than usual, but I didn’t want to ruin my good mood, or theirs. However, I did tell them about formal and Mum was more than happy to transfer some money so that I could buy a nice dress.
It seemed that while exams were coming closer and closer, things were starting to finally pick up.
