"So Isabelle, what would you like to do today?" I asked Isabelle as she ate her pancakes. She shrugged and looking at her feet shyly. I chuckled. "Princess, what do you like to do for fun? Swimming?" I asked.

Her face instantly lightened up when I mentioned swimming. "I love swimming, X!" She giggled.

"Would it be okay if I invited all the children of the pack? You need some friends," I suggested because she was a little lonely and needed friends. She looked up at me with surprise in her eyes but she nodded her head.

I scooped her up in my arms and gave her kisses on her cheeks. The omega's cleaned up after her and then I let them have the day off. Usually, I wouldn't give them the day off but Isabelle was making it so I was in such a great mood. She was so cute and innocent. I announced to the pack that all kids are welcome in the pool area for a BBQ and swimming, every child was very excited.

Isabelle POV

X took me to my room to get changed into a bathing suit. I dressed in a cute red stripped bathing suit.  I walked to the backyard holding onto X's hand and Anna, his sister, was holding onto his other hand. Anna was trying to pull him out quickly as she giggled. When I saw how many kids were running around screaming, I instantly stopped moving and gripped onto X's leg. Anna ran off to a group of girls who were playing with a skipping rope and hopscotch. X looked down at me and tried scooting me towards the other girls. I tightened my grip on him.

"Isabelle, you need to go play with the kids your age. I can't always play with you. I'm the Alpha and I need to get some work done," X said. He scooped me up in his arm and began walking to the girls. "Girls, this is Isabelle and she's going to play with you," X said when he reached the other girls. He put me down and gave Anna and I both kisses on our cheeks. He left with John and Tyler back inside.

I turned to the other girls and they began playing again. I didn't want to play with them so I looked around and spotted a boy sitting by himself. He sat on the side of the pool with his head resting on his hands. He had dark brown hair like mine and freckles. I decided to be brave and run up to him leaving the girls behind. I sat down beside the boy and he looked surprised.

"Hi, I'm Isabelle," I said reaching my hand out to him. My parents always taught me to be a proper lady. He was hesitant to shake it but eventually, he did shake it and he smiled.

"I'm Luke," he smiled. "Do you want to play in the pool?" He asked with a large smile on his face. I nodded and we both jumped in. I had floaty's on my arms because X told me I was too little to swim without them. Luke also had some on his arms.

For an hour, we splashed around and played Marco Polo. It was so much fun to have a friend that I wasn't scared at all. In my old pack, no one was this friendly to each other. There was always competition and a lot of pressure. My dad would always be stressed out and fight with my mother. They would never physically hurt each other, but there was a lot of yelling.

"Do you want to grab a hotdog?" Luke asked me. I nodded and he grabbed my hand. We ran over to the person cooking the food.

"Hi Luke, and you must be... Isabelle. Xavier has talked so much about you," said a nice lady. She looked like she was in her early twenties. Her hair was blond and she had a lot of musicals. "My name is Julie," she smiled. "Now, what would you two munchkins like to eat?" She asked. We told her a hotdog and she handed it to us and we ran off while eating it.

"Do you want to go inside and find Xavier? He's so much fun!" I said excitedly.

"The Alpha?" His eyes widened. "I'll stay out here."

"Okay, well I'll go get him and bring him out here," I said running inside. I knew where he would be, in his office because he said he had work to get done.

I knocked on his office door and it swung open to an angry Xavier staring down at me. "Isabelle, I told you I had work to get done. Please leave and don't come back until I tell you-you can. Do you understand?" He said using his 'Alpha tone' on me. I was very shocked by his tone and it scared me. I backed up away from him quickly and ran off.

I thought that Xavier was the only one that would never scare me. But, you can never trust people because all they do is turn on you even when they say to you that they wouldn't. I decided not to go back outside so I ran up to my room and climbed under my sheets even though I hadn't changed out of my bathing suit. I heard a soft knock on my door but I ignored it. The door opened and I saw Xavier standing there with his hands in his pockets.

"Hey, Princess. I'm sorry for using that tone with his but I have a tone of work to get caught up on. I've been taking a couple days off to get you settled in but I can't do that any longer. Julie will be spending the day with you. She told me that she already introduced herself," X said. Sadness instantly filled me because X will no longer hang out with me. He came up to me and scooped me in his arms. "Look, I really care about you, little one. Please understand that I'm an Alpha and have responsibilities."

"Okay," was the only thing I got out.

"Let's get you changed, Princess," he said. He went over to my closet and pulled out a pair of pjs. After I was done changing, X sat me down at the kitchen table with a coloring book while he was on his laptop doing work.

As we sat in silence, an alarm went off that made me jump. Instantly, Xavier stood up with a serious look on his face. "Rouges are attacking at the border, four men down, four men down," an announcement said through the hallways. Xavier ran over to me and picked me up.

"Xavier, what's happening?" I wondered as he began running towards an area of the house I've never been to. He didn't respond. I was shaking with fear because everyone was running around getting the children into the room Xavier took me into.

The room had a bunch of beds and food and water. The door was so big and had many locks on it. Xavier sat me down on a bed and kissed my cheeks. "If anyone knocks on this door that isn't me, don't let them in," Xavier said to everyone. There were about thirty children and ten adults.
