Satoru Higaji's POV
As I walked home, I couldn't help but think about those...odd girls. When I crossed the street, I saw one of my class mates, Kiomi (/Kai-omy/) Okishi, laying on the side walk, holding her ankle.
I ran over to her and noticed her things were scattered everywhere. "Okishi, are you okay? What happened?!"
I slowly reached for her ankle, but she slapped my hand away. "I...I'm fine! Don't touch me."
Her sudden lash of rage startled me. "I-I'm sorry."
She shook her head and tried to stand. when she got about halfway up she fell down, wincing.
I gathered up all her things and reached my hand out to help her up. "You don't look fine."
She grabbed my hand and I yanked her up. She brushed herself off and grunted. "Some guy was running and when he passed me, he pushed me over."
I sighed. "And right now I assume you hate all guys, including me?"
She smiled and shook her head. "Not you at least. You helped me so I owe you."
"Buy me a soda." I spoke quickly.
"What! Buy you a soda?" she growled.
"Yep. You owe me, remember? This is how you can pay me back." I explained.
"Fine, whatever. But not now, I need to get home. My ankle is kind of, sprained."
"I see that. Here, I'll help you home."
"Why? So I can owe you another soda?" She retorted.
"I didn't say I want another soda, but no. You don't owe me anything, I'm just being nice." I assured her with a smile.
She blushed with embarrassment. "Oh, of course. How stupid of me!" She added with a whisper, "I'm so stupid..."
I placed my free hand on her head. "Who says you're stupid? You're one of the smartest students in the whole school, and you think you're stupid!?"
She looked shocked at my sudden outburst.
I rubbed the back of my neck. "Sorry. It's just, why do you think you're stupid? Maybe you can be forgetful at times, but..."
We walked the rest of the way in complete silence. We never really talk, but we know each other pretty well.
When we finally reached Kiomi's house, I helped her inside.
"Thank you Higaji." she smiled.
As I walked out, I turned around and smiled back. "You're welcome, Okishi."
