Chapter 3

********Georgia's POV*********

Tired, I walked home slowly, taking my time. Cleare thinks she’s so cool. Ugh, she really bugs me sometimes. Makes me feel fat and stupid...

I’m sick of her controlling my life! She says something and I immediately believe her. But... that’s because she’s right. I am fat. I am ugly. I am poor. I replayed in my head what Sara had said to Cleare.

“Georgia’s not FAT. She’s BEAUTIFUL. And she’s not poor, she’s richer than you! Just leave!”

I thought about it for a second.

“... she’s not poor, she’s richer than you!”

I hated lying to my friends. They all think my Mum is rich as anything and my Dad has gone to Hawaii for buisness. Truth? My mum was so poor, we were nearly out on the streets, and my Dad had left my Mum just before I was born. They think last Christmas, my grandma had bought me a big fancy camera. Truth? My grandma was dead and my step-grandpa was controlling my mum’s hard-worked-for money and I stole the camera.

Everytime they ask to come over, I have to decline, saying that I have to help my Mum at work or I have to go to my special dancing classes.

I lie so much, it comes out of my mouth like word vomit. If word vomit was real vomit, I would be vomiting two or three times a day. It feels like that too. Everytime I lie, I feel like vomiting.

I finally got to my mum's falling apart little cottage. I walked in, no need a key and saw my mum, sitting in front of the fire. I smiled at her. She was asleep. I put a blanket on her and went into my room. It was about the size of a small walk-in wardrobe.

I got onto my small, ripped up couch/bed. I curled up and went into a deep, blissful sleep.

I woke up in complete darkness. I blinked my eyes a couple of times and noticed I was still on my couch/bed. I got up slowly and stumbled out the door.

I swayed into the kitchen and checked the time on the small microwave.

3:36 I read. Oh god.

I walked into the lounge room and turned the lamp on. Light filled the room and I saw my mum in the same place. She doesn't usually sleep for that long. I shrugged over to her and poked her cheek.

That would usually would wake her up. I shook her by her arms. Nothing. Oh my god... is she okay?!

I put two fingers on her neck, to check her pulse.

Oh.

My.

God.

Suddenly, everything went black.
