I literally dragged myself to the class that day. I know I was so excited to enrol in college. But trying to be normal when I am obviously not, was tiring. It will always be tiring. It took so much of my energy and soul. It was only the first month of college and I've already feeling apprehensive about the rest of my college journey. With the side of my eye, I saw someone walked past me. None other than you. I wouldn't notice if it was someone else. There you walked, so gloriously, with that buttoned-up shirt perfectly donned on you.
I walked closely behind you. Discreetly. Then, you opened the door to the classroom, walked through it, still not noticing my presence, and let go of the door. And there was me, stupidly thinking that you who I knew didn't notice my presence, would hold the door for me, got hit by the damned door.
"Ouch!" moan of pain reflexed out of my mouth.
You turned around, "oh my god! I'm sorry, are you okay?" You held the door and dragged me in, then rubbed my arm, where it collided with the door. "I'm really sorry!" You repeated it for the nth time.
Achoo!
"Yeah, no big deal. It's okay." I pulled away. That touch from you might make my heart go crazy and starts the beeping sound from my device. I'd hate that.
"Sure?"
I gritted my teeth. Oh Lord! Why won't you just leave??? It was just a door! Then I walked away. Left you hanging.
When the class was dismissed and the professor had walked out, I stayed in my seat, next to the window. I looked out to the window, on a bright day, the green grass glistened in the sun which was blazing in the cloudless sky.
"Guys! Guys!" Amber waved her hands for attention for the whole class. "Since our afternoon class was cancelled, why don't we go watch a movie? I'd love to spend more times with you guys and know everyone better."
"Oh, good idea!"
"Why not?"
"Let's go!"
A few voices agreed to her suggestion.
"Do you want to join them, Marie?" I looked up to Marie who was standing next to me, keeping her stuff into her tote bag. I was hopeful that she'd say yes.
"Um... I'm afraid not today. I've some things to take care of. But you should go!" she nudged me. "Have fun with them."
"Nah... I'm not going if you're not going." I finally moved to pack my things into my bags. Ready to call my mom so she can come and fetch me.
"No, no, no. You have to go, okay? Get out there, make some friends and have fun. Come on, don't be a boring person." She held both of my shoulders while her eyes looked deep into my eyes. As if she knew I had social issue that needed to be resolved.
I thought about it for a while until she called out Amber. "Count her in!" she held my hand up.
"Marie!" I pulled my hand down.
She stretched a smile. Smile that pulled, tugged, and twitched corners of her big mouth. "Trust me, you'll thank me later." She winked at me.
Ugh, I couldn't hate this girl! I took out my phone from my bag to call my mom.
"Mom... can I go watch a movie with my um... classmates?"
"Movie? What movie? Don't you have classes? Since when are you so close with your classmates?"
I groaned. Too many questions.
"Mom... can I please....?"
"Honey... I really want to let you-"
