Today was the day, she thought as she stood in front of the mirror. Her black knee length pencil skirt hugged her body right, giving volume to her curvy thighs. She wore flat black pumps that had an ankle strap and rose patterns on the front. Her dark red blouse fitted loosely around her body and was neatly tucked into the skirt. She had rolled up the sleeves to her albows and wore a silver bracelet on her right arm. That was something special to her.

Her mother had given it to her when she turned five and she treasures it all her life.

It was her goodluck charm.

She gave herself a once over before nodding in approval. She was ready. Today was the day that she would strut into that tall  building with confidence and pride rolling off her in waves.

"Haven, sweetheart. If you don't hurry up you're gonna be late." Mrs Ross shouted from the door.

Mrs Ross is a very sweet lady and also the owner of the orphanage Haven was sent to after her parents passed. Mrs Ross never had any children of her own so she opened up the orphanage to help children who needed a home. When Havens parents passed, the authorities didn't waste a day in getting her into a stable environment.

She was shipped to Sunny Side Orphanage three weeks before she turned thirteen. The moment she set foot into the building, Mr and Mrs Ross fell in love with the sweet soon-to-be 13 year old and brought her up as her own. Even though they loved all the children, there was something special about Haven and their curiosity got the better of them. They did not have any favorite children but Haven was something they never wanted to let go of, and without a second thought Mrs Ross adopted her.

Even though Haven can clearly remember her parents, she still referred to Mr and Mrs Ross as Papa and Mama.

She loves them dearly and couldn't be happier that they had been the ones to adopt her.

"I'm coming, mama." She yelled back. Picking up her resume and application form and all the needed documents and headed to the kitchen for breakfast.

"Here comes my baby, all grown up and ready to leave our nest and go make her own." Mr Ross gushed as he saw his angel dressed and ready to face the world.

"Papa, I'm not going anywhere. You know it's been my dream to be a journalist so I'm doing my best to live that dream." She smiled and took a deep breath. "And I'm doing it with pride."

"That's my girl. Don't listen to papa. We really are proud of you, sweety." Mrs Ross said, swatting Mr Ross' shoulder.

They smiled at their angel. "You look breath taking, sweetheart. Papa's proud of you." Mr Ross could never let go of the fact that his baby girl was all grown up. He wished she was still the little 13 year old that was brought into their life but you cannot control that which is not in your hands.

"Thank you, Papa." Haven gave both her adoptive parent a hug and a kiss in the cheek before she sat down for breakfast.

After breakfast, Haven bid them both a goodbye and set off to the world that awaits her. She was more than excited, who knew what awaited her on the other side of her life. She was nervous but ready than ever.

Sébastien climbed out of his car and looked up at the two storey house known as Sunny Side Orphanage.

With his brief case in one hand and his laptop in the other, he rang the doorbell. This was the first time he has ever been invited to another house for a meeting. But he didn't mind.

The door opened and behind it stood a man in his early fifties. He had a dashing smile on his face with wrinkles in the corner of his eyes.

He was dressed in dark blue jeans with a white dress shirt and black dress shoes. It gave off a semi formal vibe with a hint of confidence.

"Ah, Mr Heart, what a pleasure. Please come in." Sébastien was not at all shocked that the elder man knew who he was, after all he was the richest man in the country. Sébastien smiled and walked into the house.

"I'm Mr Ross, my wife will be with us shortly." Mr Ross said as he lead the young man down the hall to the back yard where the meeting will be held. A large rectangular garden table was outside. With twelve chairs were stacked around the table. On the table there were snacks, from chocolate chip cookies do almond nuts, and beverages.

"You can sit where ever you please, and the snacks and drinks are all complimentary. Feel free to have as much as you want."

Sébastien did not hesitate to take a chocolate chip cookie and a apple flavoured juice box. Sébastien felt like a little kid again. Sitting at the dinner table with his parents eating all the cookies from the cookie jar.

"I see you've made yourself at home?" Mrs Ross said from the door as she exited the house. Sébastien smiled at her. He might be a grown man but he would never disrespect elders by not eating the food they offer.

"Good morning Mrs Ross." Sébastien greeted the red haired woman. She smiled at him and sat down beside her husband. "Shall we begin?" the elder couple nodded.

Sébastien pulled out all of the document needed and sprawled them across the table. He handed the elderly couple a pace with five questions on it. "I'm gonna have to ask you to answer these questions. You can do it on the page. It's just a little more about the background on the orphanage. It won't take long." he said handing them both a pen.

"No problem, sweetheart." Mrs Ross said being her sweet self.

After they answered the questions, Sébastien took the paper back.

"If you don't mind me asking, why did you start and orphanage?" Sébastien could not with hold his curiosity any longer.

"Well, we were unable to have children of our own but we really wanted to be surrounded by them." Mrs Ross said sounding almost sad. "And we hated seeing children without a home. So we took it upon ourselves to create a stable environment for kids that needed it." Mr Ross finished for her.

"Have you adopted any kids yourself?" Sébastien asked trying to cheer the older woman up.

Her eyes instantly lit up at his words.

"Yes, actually we have. We adopted a little girl named Haven when she was 12." Mr Ross said, sounding rather proud.

"Can I meet her, if you don't mind that is." Sébastien was really curious. He didn't know why but he didn't care. All he wanted to do was to meet there little girl. From the look on Mr And Mrs Ross' faces she was something special.

"Oh, no not at all. But she's not here at the moment, she-"

Mrs Ross was cut off by a loud scream coming from the house.

All three of them rushed in side and into the kitchen where the sound came from.

Mr Ross was the first one to make it to the kitchen and what he saw was nothing if not hilarious. His baby girl was jumping up and down in her sweatpants and a baggy shirt with her phone pressed to her ear.

Mrs Ross followed  behind him and Sébastien last. Haven had her back turned to them still jumping up and down.

"Haven, sweetheart. What is going on. You scared the living hell out of us." Mr Ross said trying to get her attention.

Haven swiftly turned around and threw her hands in the air.

"I got the job, Papa!" Haven yelled as she put her phone down.
And in that split second, Sébastien's world came to a stop. His breathing stopped and his heart sped up. As his eyes landed on the most angelic creature he has ever seen.

And in that moment he knew he wanted her to be his.
