Troye Sivan
two weeks later
"See you later," I wave to Denise as I exit the flat, shutting the door and locking it.
"See you later, dear!" She calls like the sweet old woman she is.
I muster up the smallest of smiles and hold up my flowers to my chest, embracing the beauty. I grew these at home and I thought they'd look just right in the shop today.
A quick ride to the shop and I'm welcomed to my own little piece of heaven. My safe haven where I can tend to my growing and let them know they're loved, and they're going to continue to grow until their time is up.
Someone walks through the front door, our little bell ringing softly, as I cut my roses' stems. I continue what I'm doing and wait for the customer to ask for assistance, if they need it. Most people just come in to smell the flowers.
Minutes later when I hear the clearing of a throat, I turn around and nearly jump out of my skin, crawling out of it and never returning again. Jacob, holding out a bouquet of sunflowers. He grew out his mustache. I duck down and hide behind the counter, my heart racing like crazy.
"What are you doing here?" I ask in a bit of a harsh tone.
"You can't just be here," I speak, fear in my every word, "Did you bring your posse of paparazzi too?"
He sighs and sets down the bouquet on the worktop, "No... Am I not allowed to see you?"
I slowly rise from behind the counter and see his small frown, my heart only beating harder.
"You can't just keep turning up unannounced. You're going to make me lose my mind." I murmur, picking up the bouquet and scanning it over the price checker.
I ring up his purchase and mutter a total, him sliding his card and lacing it back in his wallet, looking up at me with that damned smile while holding his hands together in front of himself.
"I've missed you... Did you... miss me?" He inquires, head tilted to the side.
I gulp and nod, "Didn't expect you to show up again."
"I always will. Things have just been hectic at work." He explains, taking the flowers as I hand them back to him, only for him to hand them right back.
"For you." Jacob whispers.
I let out a small okay and take them, unwrapping them and turning away from him. I set them by the sink and pick up one of my vases, placing it under the sink and filling it up.
"Can I take you out to dinner?" He asks.
I stop, glancing back at him and nodding, "You can."
"I still have to work until my shift is over though," I mutter, turning off the taps once the vase is filled enough and place the flowers in.
Placing the bouquet by the register, I move them around and perfect them the best I can. A very lovely little batchthey are.
"That's alright."
And when it was, he moved up from his place outside on the bench, grinning up at me as I had pulled my hair out of my face minutes prior in the loo.
"Kind sir." He nods, holding his hand out for me to take.
Thinking with my heart instead of my head time and time again, I reach forward and intertwine our fingers and hearts, a fragile little lock connecting my heart to his. Where does this go?
