Sammy x Henry: The beginning

One shot: An unexpected ride

(This was written for the summer challenge on the BATIM Amino, together with my dear friend Believer, who also happens to be the Sammy to my Senry ;3 Another team member, LittleFreaky13, came up with the title, so credit for that goes to them. The amazing picture to go with this short story was made by the wonderful Ceylon, so all credit for that goes to them. Anyway, hope you'll enjoy our collaboration!)

        1931

It was a bright summer day, much to the dismay of the employees at Joey Drew Studios; they weren't allowed to go outside to enjoy the weather, but were instead forced to work in the stuffy studio in downright unbearable temperatures.

Henry put down his pencil, sighing and looking up to see Joey pace into the room. The animator would give anything to get out of the building to enjoy the sunlight, but with his boss roaming around it was practically impossible to sneak away.

Joey slammed his hands onto Henry's desk, looking stressed and annoyed. "I can't believe it! Another meeting with that stupid bank, because I 'keep spending their money like crazy'. I just borrowed some for my projects, but they don't trust me in repaying them!" He groaned, moving his hand through his hair before standing upright again, slightly more composed now. "Anyway, Grant and I have to go to the bank right away, and something tells me it's going to be a long meeting. I trust you and the other directors to keep things running down here."

Without another word he paced out of the room again, leaving Henry unable to answer. The animator smirked however; this would be the perfect opportunity to get away from work for a little bit. There was only one more person he needed in order to have some fun, so he got down to the music department to fetch his partner.

Sammy sat bent over his music sheets, wiping some sweat from his forhead using his handkerchief; he couldn't concentrate in these conditions, something he despised being unable to do when there was work to be done.

He sat upright as he heard a soft knock on the door however and got up, smiling down at the smaller man at the door.
"Hello darling~" He pulled the animator into his office, checking the hallway to make sure nobody was watching them before giving Henry a quick kiss. "To what do I owe the visit?"

Henry blushed slightly, Samuel never failed to make him flustered. "I just came to say that our lovely boss is out for a bank meeting, and I thought we could maybe-"

He was cut off when Sammy grabbed onto his shoulders and smirked slightly.
"Say no more, we're outta here. It's impossible to get any work done in this abysmal heat anyway."

He dragged the smaller man out of his office before locking the door. "The music department will manage just fine without my guidance for an afternoon.
So, where do you want to go?"
He put an arm around Henry's shoulder, a gesture that was relatively safe, even if someone were to see them; their relationship absolutely had to stay hidden, or they would both lose their jobs, if not worse.

Henry smiled brightly, looking up at Samuel. "There's a fun fair down at the promenade, I love those kind of things."

Sammy nodded. "Whatever you want my darling, it sounds fun."

(So far for my part, now onto Believer's part)

The amusement park wasn't that far away, it was rather new and had been build near the harbour.

Henry had been staring at the ships in awe and still wore a joyful glow in his eyes after they bought the tickets.

"You're so easy to impress, Henry." Sammy smirked as he looked at the smaller man, it always delightened the musician to spent time with his partner. Especially when he was in such a good mood.
