Nick's point of view
I ended up sleeping on the basement couch in Luke's house. I didn't trust myself alone to be completely honest. It sounds dramatic, like in the movies or books but I feel like my heart is gone. I was the first one up but i didn't leave the couch. My mind wandered to the party I was supposed to go to tonight. I didn't want to go. I wanted to go home and wallow. I wanted to reflect on what I did wrong. I heard the door open and Luke walked out in sweatpants and a tank top. He grabbed a water out of the mini fridge and walked over to me. He looked down at me. "You alright bro?" I shrugged. He sighed "Her loss ya know"
"I must of done something to hurt her or some shit"
"You didn't do any-Wait did you just swear?" He raised an eyebrow and smirked. My eyes widened. I never swore. I threw a pillow at him. "Shut up idiot" He laughed. "Now get the fuck up." I rolled my eyes and smiled for the first time. We spent the day watching TV with Luke's sister. I called my family around 8 and told them I was sleeping at Luke's. They would kill me if they found out I was going to a gang party. I got dressed in a white button down, black skinny jeans, combat boots and a leather jacket. I felt uncomfortable to be completely honest. These were Luke's clothes. He said it was appropriate for this, whatever the hell that means. "Stop staring at yourself would you?" Luke smirked and ran a hand through his hair and fixed his leather jacket. "Damn. I look good." I rolled my eyes.
"Can we just go and get this over with?"
"Lets go" He grabbed the keys to his mom's car.
It took about an hour to get to this place. When we arrived we were in the country. I wasn't exactly sure where in the country, but it was all dirt roads and what looked like farm land. "That's it right there" He pointed to a run-down building with vines growing up the side. The foundation was crumpling and each visiable window had at least one crack in it. Outside stood a man in black. He wore a tuxedo and on he neck was a tattoo of a paw print. His eyes followed us as we stepped out of the car and walked toward the building. Luke's goofy nature from the car ride was gone and his smile was no where to be found. We stopped in front of the man. "My name is Luke Maxwell, I am 17 years old and my purpose here is to join the Wolf Pack." The man nodded his head then said in a thick Spanish accent," Who is he?" They both looked at me. I figured I was to say what Luke said. "Um I'm Nick Curtis, I am 17 years old, and my um purpose here is to accompany my friend." The man smiled. Not the friendly kind of smile, more like the "i'm gonna kill you and throw your body in a ditch" kind of the smile. "Go in" Luke nodded and headed straight. You know that saying, don't judge a book by its cover? Well its's true. On the outside this building is basically rubble. On the inside its still broken down yeah but there are huge grand stairs that headed down into what could have been hell. We walked down and it was like a palace. Marble tile and a huge ballroom with a gigantic chandelier. In one corner was a bar filled with professionally dressed men and women, to the left of that was a hallway. Across from the bar was a stage with a throne on it. The throne was black with gold detailing. In front of the stage was a dance floor. At least a hundred people were here. Most wore black and gold. I guess there was a dress code. Luke walked to the bar and i obviously followed. We sat at the bar and watched the other people chat and start to get tipsy till the bar tender came over to us. "Well look at you two" I looked up to see a tall and buff man smirking at us. He wore a bar tenders outfit but something i noticed was on his hand, it was a paw print tattoo as well, just like the other man. Luke smiled at him "Sup Adam"
"I didn't think you would actually come tonight." Adam laughed and looked at me "This ya friend?"
Luke nodded,"yeah, this is Nick" I shook Adam's hand.
"Nice to meet ya Nick, i'm Adam the bosses cousin" He smirked proudly.
"The boss?" I was confused, I thought maybe this was just a group of druggies who do what they want. Adam was about to say something when his face went completely blank. I felt a hand on my shoulder. A deep voice spoke "I need to borrow these boys please" Adam nodded and walked off to talk to a female at the end of the bar. "Luke and Nick, correct?" I turned my head to see what the man with the deep voice looked like. He was tall with caramel colored skin and deep dark brown eyes. He had every piercing that you could imaginr in his left ear, but no tattoos besides one under his eye. It was a paw print. "I need you two to follow me." We nodded and followed like obedient puppies. We weaved in and out of sweaty bodies. We walked up to the stage and to the left where there was another hallway. Two big wooden doors separated whatever was in the hallway from the ballroom. The man pushed through the doors. We walked through and he quickly shut them behind us. Inside was a brightly lit hallway with 10 or 11 doors on each side. Some of the doors were open as we walked down the hallway. In one room, a woman who looked in her early twenties held a little girl. I made eye contact with the woman and she smiled. Through another door, there were two teenage boys, they looked about my age. They were holding hands. We continued to walk till we got to the very end of the hall. No one spoke, the man opened the door, let us through then walked in behind us. I looked around the room,it was a huge room. The floor was marble, the walls were a off white besides the wall directly across from me, that wall was blood red. In the middle of the room was a big cherry wood desk. Sitting on top of it was, as cliche as it sounds, the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. Her skin was the color of caramel, her hair was black and the ends were dyed purple, it was perfectly curled and cascaded down her shoulders, she had a nice, ahem chest too. She wore a black tuxedo that hugged her curves perfectly. I also noticed that she was covered in tattoos. I felt someone smack my arm. It was Luke. "Stop drooling and pay attention "he hissed.
"Boss?" The woman looked up and put her phone down. She spoke in a smooth voice.
"Hello boys" she smirked when she looked at me. I felt my face heat up. She looked at Luke. "Why do you want to join?" Luke gulped but as usual kept his cool. " I need to provide for my sister and this seems to be the best way to do that" Luke smirked "plus, I don't mind a free tattoo." The woman walked toward him til they were face to face. "You're a smart ass aren't you?"
"Yes I am boss " I wanted to smack him. How could he talk to a gang leader like they were a friend! She smirked,"You're in. You get your tattoo in 10 minutes" She turned to me and walked closer. I could feel her breathe on my face. "You aren't here to join, are you?" I shook my head. She rolled her eyes. "What you can't talk?"I gulped.
"Y-yeah I can" Fuck I stuttered! She smirked and grabbed my chin. I got a good look at her face. She had the darkest brown eyes you will ever see. She had a piercing on her left eyebrow. She looked my age. "Your face is red ya know" she smirked and let go of me. She walked back to her desk and sat on it, she motioned to the two chairs in front of her. Luke and I sat down. "Before we start, that" she pointed to the man, I had forgotten he was there," is Marco, my brother and my head guard " Marco smiled at us. " I'm Sierra but Luke you will call me boss." Sierra glanced at me,"you will call me Sierra and you will be a part of this just as much as him" I looked at her dumbfounded. "Wait a minute,
I did not sign up for this." She rolled her eyes again. "You aren't a member, you are a helper." She walked around to the other side of her desk and pulled a folder out of a random drawer. "I've read up on you, straight A student. That's what I need." I stood up to protest but she held up a hand to stop me. "Three years ago my parents were killed. My brother and I were forced into orphanage after orphanage. Each one worse than the last. We were out casted because of our skin color." She sighed,"I wanted to create a safe and accepting place. So, I made the Wolf Pack. Here it doesn't matter your religion, race, sexuality, hell you can be an alien. All we ask is you do deeds that earn the gang money. Either me, Marco, or lisa train each member in gun safety, gun usage and knife skills. But, I need someone good with numbers. That's where you come in." I looked at her blankly. She looked back at me. I wanted to say no but something held me back. "Marco, take Luke to get his tattoo. I wanna talk to Nick alone." Marco nodded. Once they left, Sierra came and sat next to me. "You look scared, are you scared?" I could hear the smirk in her voice. "No," I said. I suddenly felt her breathe on my ear. "Really? Cause you're shaking" Shit!
