Ashley's P.O.V
"How about we go on an adventure?""Are you serious?"
Ethan starts bursting out loud laughs. "Of course I am.... If your idea of an adventure is staying in and watching movies?"
I expected him to laugh again, but he was completely serious. I just looked at him confused.
"What? I was instructed to keep you company while your mother was away, and what better way to watch over you than to have a movie marathon?"
"Whatever you say Eth." I tell him chuckling. I walk over to the couch, and sit kind of close to the middle; expecting Ethan to sit on the recliner.
"Where's the popcorn?" I hear him shout from the kitchen.
"On the top shelf, in the pantry." I call back while grabbing the remote to start scrolling through Netflix. I find I horror movie, hoping that Ethan is a baby when it comes to them.
"Really? A horror movie? I cry every single time Gray forces me to watch them with him." Ethan says as he strolls into the living room with a large bowl of popcorn.
"You're kidding right?"
"Haha yeah. I love horror movies actually. Don't tell him I told you, but Gray is the one the cries." Ethan admits laughing.
Ethan surprises me by sitting right next to me on the couch. Our arms touch slightly and goosebumps instantly race along my arm, causing me to look at him. He looks at me too with a small smirk on his face.
"Are you gonna start the movie, or are you just going to watch me instead?" Ethan whispers while staring back at me.
"Get over yourself, I wasn't looking at you, I was looking at the blanket on the back of the couch. It's kinda cold ya know?" I say at a failed attempt of covering up my surprise.
Laughing, Ethan grabs the blanket and wraps it around my shoulders; careful not to actually make contact with my skin. Did he feel it too? Then he reaches over and presses play on the remote, getting more comfortable on the couch and placing the popcorn on the coffee table.
About twenty minutes into the movie, I lost interest and began to look at Ethan instead. He looked to be completely immersed into the movie and his eyebrows furrowed as the main characters tried to figure out who the cliche killer was. I continue to watch his beautiful face, spotting a freckle by his eye that I never noticed before, and a couple very small scars.
Not before long, an overwhelming fit of tiredness washes over me and I feel my eyes begin to get heavy. I yawn loudly, causing Ethan to giggle slightly, but not turn his head from the screen. Fuck it. I feel myself give into the tiredness and I close my eyes; not before hearing Ethan laugh again and feeling the couch shift.
Ethan's P.O.V
About twenty minutes into the movie, I feel Ashley's gaze shift to me instead of the tv screen. It surprises me at first, but I concentrate every bone in my body on the movie in front of me, making sure I don't look back at her. I hear her yawn and I laugh slightly; without turning towards her.I then feel her head hit my shoulder lightly and I immediately laugh at how tired she actually was. I grab the controller to pause the movie, and then I slowly shift my position, while grabbing the pillow from behind my back and placing it on my lap. I feel her head slip from my shoulder and I gently catch her head and place it on the pillow so she is comfortable. Ashley sighs softly and moves to adjust herself more onto my lap, without opening her bright blue eyes.
I take the time to look at her, now that she is no longer looking at me. I notice that her cheeks and nose are spattered with tiny freckles and are always tinted pink; like a blush that never leaves. I also see that her hair is not just light brown, but there are hints of darker browns and blonds.
She gives me butterflies and every touch between us sends electricity through my body. I felt it when our shoulders touched this morning, and so I sat deliberately close to her, just to make sure it was real and to feel it again. The second time was so much more powerful than the first and I wanted nothing more than to keep feeling it, to feel her. I had to force myself to not kiss her right then and there, so I grabbed the blanket and placed it around her, making sure not to touch her because I wasn't so sure I could control myself.
I've never felt like this before. Now don't get me wrong, I've been with plenty girls before, but none of them ever made me feel butterflies or caused my skin to electrify with the slightest touch. And no, I'm not a player, I do not use girls and throw them away. I just get a lot of attention because Gray and I used to make YouTube videos, but we stopped a couple months ago to focus on school and college; and I fall hard and fast.
Ashley is nothing like any of my past girlfriends, there is something about her that excites me and something that keeps we wondering about her. I feel like she is hiding something, because she doesn't really look sick enough to need someone to watch over her, but my mother insisted that it was really important that I did. I'm not going to force her to tell me, she will say it when she thinks it's right. Hell, we have a lot of time to talk, being as though I will practically be living here on the weekdays.
My thoughts finally become quiet as I start to feel my eyes slip closed, and I give into the heavy feeling in my body, taking one last look at Ashley sleeping peacefully, before I fall asleep with her.
