Ashley's P.O.V
I can't breathe again. Air somehow escaped my lungs once more. But, this time, not due to a needle and pain. I'm looking at the tattoo on my rib cage and I can't breathe. The sight of it stole my air and in turn stole my words. It is absolutely beautiful. It isn't the tattoo itself that is beautiful, the tattoo is quite simple actually, but it's the black words that now stand on my skin. They are written in simple cursive, curling from the front of my ribs to the side. But it doesn't say something stupid about the boy standing next to me, no these words have meaning, so much meaning. Find what you love and let it kill you wraps around me like a hug and somehow warms my skin and heart. I didn't think words could do that.
A tear slips out and rolls down my still-wet face, and I laugh soundlessly. Ethan sees in the mirror and turns me towards him, a concerned look all over his face. "What's wrong baby? I thought you would like it. I'm so-"
His words are cut off when I grab his neck and pull his lips to mine, kissing him with all the emotion I could. Ethan is caught off guard for a moment but then recovers by pulling me closer so there is little space between our bodies. I swipe my tongue over his lower lip sweetly and I feel Ethan smile into our kiss before pulling away.
"So, I'm guessing you do like it after all."
I peck his cheek and smile up at him. "I love it, thank you so much."
Ethan's cheeks blush a deep red and his smile widens. "Like I said, anything for you. But, don't give me all the credit, Hector actually gave you the tattoo and you're the one that was strong enough to get it. You did it babe. And I'm so proud of you."
I look around for Hector and see him at a sink across the shop, cleaning his tattoo gun off. "Thank you so much Hector!"
He looks over with a big smile. "You're welcome Ashley, I hope to see you back!"
With that, Ethan says his goodbyes and pays him. We are outside the tattoo shop and I pull Ethan into me, smiling up at him and staring into his hazel eyes that I've come to love. "I can't believe I did it."
Ethan chuckles and kisses my cheek, leading me to his car. He opens my door and jogs over to his side. He gets in quickly and starts the car, speeding out of the parking lot with his signature smirk upon his lips.
"Where's the fire Dolan?" I ask once we are on the highway."
"Wait there's a fire?"
"Not an actual one you goof, but by the way you're driving and that look on your face, you're up to something."
Ethan looks over at me with a wicked smile. "I have no clue what you're talking about Ash."
"Oh God, what are you going to do to me now Ethan?" I grumble and he laughs at my annoyance.
"I already told you, but you were too caught up in the tattoo shop that you weren't really listening to me."
"I'm scared of needles, what did you expect? For me to listen and then write you a full five page report when we get home?" I say, my voice laced with sarcasm. "Now tell me where the heck you are taking me Dolan."
"Now, how fun would it be if I ruined the surprise?"
"More fun then you kid napping me and bringing me to my demise."
"Stop being so over dramatic. Plus, you got into this car willingly, so I'm not kid napping you."
I let out a frustrated sigh and take out my phone, knowing Ethan won't tell me where we are going.
